The term "Walk Around Manager" refers to a style of management worth considering. Walk Around Management (MBWA), according to online sources,
involves managers walking around through their workplace(s), at random, to check in with employees on a personal level about the status of ongoing work."
During my career I worked for someone who did this, and I was so impressed with the style of management that when I became a manager, I thought I would give it a try. It worked very well. I found that when you sit in an office all day, you hear only what others tell you; you certainly do not see what is going on, unless your office is all glass and is elevated over the entire work area.

Step 2. Reconcile Your Resources and World
The next step in our process is to create a sense of continuity out of what's going on in us and around us. We all know that "stuff happens" and in most cases, we have no control over the external forces and factors affecting our lives. Bad relationships, financial crises, natural disasters, a weak economy, and health issues are just a few of these impartial factors. This stuff doesn't ask permission to enter our lives. It's just there!
Creating a close working relationship between who we are (discussed in part 1) and the external factors blocking access to our goals requires an understanding of The Law of Cause and Effect, which states: "We choose our response to life." In other words, by choosing to respond to a situation and not react, we control how the situation affects us.

(May 2017) Silver Fox Advisors announced their June Lunch & Learn Program, scheduled for Thursday June 22, 2017, will feature Jim Prather, CEO of WAVi. Richard Hendee, President of the Silver Fox Advisors, stated, "Mr. Prather brings his over 30 years of executive and financial experience from the information technology, media and consumer electronics industries to the WAVi team."
Mr. Prather originally worked for Deloitte & Touche for nine years. He then spent the next fourteen years at Pearson (a media company) in New York. For the past twenty years he has been in executive and board positions for several information technology companies located in San Francisco and the Houston area. These executive positions included roles as the CFO and Head of Operations at Mindspace, The Learning Company and Mattel Interactive.

At the May 2017 Business Meeting the Silver Fox Advisors recognized six of its members for the contribution generously given of their talents and time to the organization. Each member was presented with a framed plaque and a gift followed by cake and a celebratory toast. Silver Fox Advisors Emeritus Jim Fish and Jay Marks was unable to attend the meeting.
