Group Fitness

Traditionally, February is the month when many people lose sight of their fitness resolutions. Don't let this happen to you. Whether you want to run your first 5K, complete all the obstacles in a Tough Mudder, set a personal best in an upcoming triathlon, become leaner, healthier or stronger, or lose that first 20 or last 10 pounds; if you have a goal, our experienced staff can help you get there.

Liberty is proud to be your home away from home, and to be part of your extended family. With members like you, we have been able to provide an environment that fosters health and wellness throughout our local community. Please know that you are always appreciated and we thank you for allowing us to serve you.

Added Sugar Consumption and Heart Disease
From the desk of Susan Cutshaw, M.S.

A diet high in added sugars may increase the risk of dying from heart disease even for those who are not overweight.

A study recently published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) showed that participants who consumed 25% or more of their calories per day from added sugars were twice as likely to die from heart disease when compared to those who consumed less than 10% of their calories from added sugars. The study found that as added sugar intake rises, so does the risk of dying from heart disease, regardless of age, sex, activity level, body mass index, or a overall healthy diet.

What are added sugars?
Added sugars refer to syrups and sugars added to beverages and foods during processing or preparation.  Naturally occurring sugars are not included.
  • Sodas plus sports and energy drinks account for more than one third of the added sugar consumption in the American diet.[1]
  • The American Heart Association recommends limiting added sugars to less than 100 calories daily for women (6 teaspoons) and 150 calories daily for men (9 teaspoons).
  • A 12 ounce can of soda contains 10 teaspoons of sugar.

Parking Lot
To provide a positive experience in and out of the club, we encourage everyone to exit the parking lot swiftly and without delay.  Lingering in a space with car lights on can be frustrating for others who are eager to find a space.

A friendly reminder
Be courteous to other members and wipe down equipment after use.
