The planning has begun for STEM festivals for the upcoming year.  

Does your organization want to volunteer to exhibit at one of the upcoming festival?

Exhibitor Registration Information:
  • Provide hands-on activity for youth
  • Registration is free
  • STEM Festivals are free family-friendly events
  • Standard rectangular table provided
  • Free handouts/promotional items encouraged
  • Who exhibits?  Businesses, Informal and formal educational providers, higher education STEM programs, economic development groups, school clubs, robotics teams, etc.

Career Day Activities

The middle school students at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Middle school had a career day on April 24th.  They brought in local career speakers in the morning and had hands-on activities in the afternoon.

Thank you to the Iowa State University  Women in Science and Engineering Role Models Program , Wright County Extension 4-H, and Iowa State Extension 4-H for engaging the students in the afternoon sessions.

Workshops Help Educators Teach the Science of Food Production

Two-day pr
ofe ss ional development workshops for teachers will be offered throughout the summer and around the state by the Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation and partner organizations.

The workshops will help teachers apply Iowa Core standards including science and language arts in the context of agriculture. The workshops will also use agriculture to teach other core concepts and skills like social studies and math. The workshops will be hands on and interactive with one day of site visits and tours and one day of practical classroom application. Many STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) concepts will be integrated throughout.

Biotechnology Summer Workshops - Register by May 22nd!

Educators in public and private schools or those who work with youth in 4-H or other community programs can strengthen and update their STEM-based curriculums with modern content, techniques, and activities in biotechnology and bioethics, while earning professional development or Iowa State University graduate credits at the workshops.
