Association Updates

Attend CAPMIS evaluation presentation
Steven R. Howe presented the results of his in-depth evaluation and validation of the CAPMIS tool on May 22 in the first of several regional meetings that invite agency staff to learn more about the results and Howe’s recommendations, and offer feedback on the findings. Both data analysis and focus groups with CAPMIS users yielded a number of recommendations to improve consistent application of the tool. To attend one of the remaining meetings, you must RSVP (Rhonda.Nelson@jfs.ohio.gov) with the specific location and time.  
  • Southwest (RTC, Loveland): June 1, 9-12
  • East Central (RTC, Cambridge): June 7, 9-12
  • Northeast (Summit CCS, Akron): June 14, 9-12
  • Northwest (Wood CJFS, Bowling Green): June 21, 9-12  
Community Education Committee to meet via conference call
Friday’s meeting of the Community Education Committee (June 2, 10 a.m.) will take place via web meeting/conference call instead of in-person. To learn more, contact Scott Britton (scott@pcsao.org).  

BRIDGES Advisory Council meets
The BRIDGES Advisory Council met May 25. The group reviewed and provided input into a number of program documents including the voluntary participation agreement, denial and termination letters, and the appeals rule. Conference Planning Committee meets
The Conference Planning Committee met May 26. The committee reviewed workshop proposals and finalized workshops for this year’s conference. The conference registration is expected to open at the beginning of July. For more information about the conference, please visit www.pcsao.org/programs/conference.

Conference award nominations still open
PCSAs are encouraged to nominate their outstanding staff, families and youth. The 2017 Annual Conference Awards include: Supervisor of the Year, Caseworker of the Year, Support Staff of the Year, Journalist of the Year, Family of the Year, and Rising Up and Moving On. Nominations are due June 15. Download the award nomination forms.

Ashland County JFS has appointed Jana Carroll as its new CW administrator, since Traci Foley has accepted a new opportunity at Summit County CS. A belated welcome to Traci Kohls, CW administrator at Putnam County JFS. Please join us in welcoming Jana and Traci.

    The Kidz First Children’s Advocacy Center, a program of the Nord Center Comprehensive Behavioral Healthcare, is hosting a conference to address child abuse awareness and prevention May 25-26 at the Spitzer Conference Center at Lorain Community College, 1005 N. Abbe Road in Elyria.
