Dear Parents,

This month our Gospel Value is Respect For Life. God created each individual person with dignity. Dignity is defined as, "the quality of being worthy of honor or respect." God values each human life because each of us is created out of love by God and for God.

Human life is sacred.  This is the reason why we have a special relationship with God.  How lucky are we that God's love for us is so great that He breathed life into us so that we could go out and spread His mission and love to others.  To show respect and compassion for all humans that are in our path on the journey of life is what fulfills our destiny of eternal life with God in Heaven.

Quote From Pope Francis:

"All life has inestimable value even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of God's creation, made in His own image, destined to live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect."

Faithfully yours,

Miss Giaquinto

Innovation & Leadership Grant Award

Foundations in Education is pleased to announce 19 grant awards to benefit Catholic schools in the Diocese of Bridgeport. This competitive grant cycle is the first of its kind for Foundations in Education and Diocesan-wide Catholic schools alike.

Grant proposals from teachers and school administrators were received from September 15 - October 31, 2017. Schools had the opportunity to request funding for projects promoting innovation in the classroom or training and leadership development.

The grants were made possible by the generosity of individual donors to Foundations in Education, by people interested in improving Catholic Schools and creating opportunities for teachers in the area of innovation and leadership.

SCSS submitted applications for 3 separate grants and I am very pleased to announce that Mrs. Suzanne Derivan's submission for Google Expeditions for the Classroom- Virtual Field Trips was awarded a $7,000 grant.

These funds will be used to purchase a complete Google Expedition Kit for 20 students. This includes everything needed for virtual expeditions - 20 student devices, 20 Virtual Reality Viewers, 2 Rapid Chargers, 1 Teacher Device, 1 Router, 1 case or charging cart and delivery.   This cross-curricular tool will allow teachers to reinforce and strengthen understanding of concepts and so much more. The impact on our students will be boundless!
