Dear Members.
With a saddened heart, I regret to inform you of a recent tragedy in Bogue Chitto, MS where eight (8) persons were killed. One of them being a Police Officer, who died in the line of duty. The other seven (7) persons killed were all members of the New Zion Union Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto, MS, where Rev. Eugene Edwards is pastor. Sadly, some of those killed were members of the Pastor's family. New Zion Union Baptist Church is a member of the Mississippi National Baptist State Convention (MNBSC) where Rev. Kenneth Maurice Davis is President.
I was invited by President Davis to participate in a prayer call with Pastor Eugene Edwards, family members and members of the MNBSC. I urge all National Baptist Convention of America members to please lift all the families of those killed, this church, Pastor Edwards and that entire community in our prayers.
