FEATURED EVENT: District Retirement Reception
On Thursday, May 25, the District held a reception to honor our retiring staff members. The event began with a short video of kids explaining what retirement means, which, of course, offered hilarious insights such as: being too old and tired to work anymore; wanting to go on lots of vacations; thinking about getting more cats; and eating lots of tacos! Each retiree was given an engraved red apple by Superintendent Scott, and attendees were invited to say a few words about their retiring colleagues. It was a wonderful event, and we wish our retiring staff members much happiness in the next phase of their lives. Sincerest thanks to all of you - you will be missed!

K-12 Budget Advocacy Needed
As legislators in Salem move closer to finalizing a budget proposal for the 2017-19 biennium, the need for continued K-12 funding advocacy is critical. The Oregon Education Investment Initiative, championed by House Speaker Tina Kotek, provides a cost-containment and revenue-generation package that would allow significant, sustained investment in education for years to come, and would allow a higher allocation to K-12 in the 2017-19 biennium. But legislators need to hear from you to know they have your support. Visit Oregon Rising's Take Action page for more information and contact your elected officials today!
