H appy Hounds News
June 2017

The first official day of summer is quickly approaching, which means so is summer break for the kiddos! If your pup is also taking a summer break from daycare and you need to cancel or change a current standing reservation, let us know! We'd be happy to hold your spot once school starts up again and your pooch is ready to return from their summer vacation.

The family owned grooming salon that we work with, MC Pet Concierge, will be closed July 1st through July 10th. If you'd like to book a groom prior or immediately following, please call or reserve online as soon as possible. We require at least 48 hours notice to assure a time for your pooch.

We still have some openings for boarding the week of July 4th. If you plan on a last minute family trip or even just a late night out watching some fireworks and want to make sure your pooch is happy and comfortable, during a stressful night home alone, give us a call! Even if we have spots available, we may be subject to turning last minute clients away since we try our best to staff accordingly for holidays. As always, safety is our main concern.

Speaking of the 4th, those of you who plan on hanging out in the area and don't have plans for the morning of, consider joining us at the Annual 4th of July Parade held here in downtown Plymouth. If you'd like to walk your pooch with us, we have a few spaces open. To register, visit our sign-up form. If you'd rather just watch the parade from the sidelines, feel free to stop by the Happy Hounds parking lot after the parade. Bring your pooch for some pool play and doggy cake while you chow down on some tasty eats by Jeff Zak Catering

This month we do not have a dog of the month. Instead, we felt it was more appropriate to honor the memory of a very important pooch who recently crossed the rainbow bridge. We do not want our dog of the month overshadowed by the dedication to our Sadie Lady. We will resume showcasing our furry friends in July.

Sincerely,

Happy Hounds

Recently, Happy Hounds said goodbye to a very important being in our lives, Sadie.

We were blessed to have spent the last 10 years, 5 days a week, with her. Happy Hounds was her home away from home. On days that she wasn't there, something felt different or out of place.

Sadie wasn't just a dog, she was everything but. She had such an old wise, intuitive soul. This wasn't her first rodeo.. Sadie must have done some great things in her past lives to be so lucky to have lived the life she had. Her mom, Jen, gave her the life that every dog would only dream of. Whether that be long walks, photo shoots, car rides to Lee's chicken or a special visit to McDonald's for a large order of fries, Sadie was living the dream.

Sadie, you were more than just a dog in the pack, you were a loyal friend and I guess most would consider you a co-worker.. or maybe superior(at least you thought so). Like typical coworkers, we all had our moments but we always had each other's back, no matter what. Like all those times you threatened to pee on the floor if we didn't drop what we were doing and rush to your aid because you didn't have to go out the five times we asked. Or like all the scraps of people food we swear we never gave you. You were always there to clean up our mess.. to help hide the evidence of what was for lunch. And you never told on us. Secrets are what makes friends close they say... And we shared lots of snacks.. I mean secrets.

You were often one of the first dogs new staff would meet. We all remember how belligerent you could be during interviews and staff meetings. How rude were we not to be focusing all our attention on you, The Diva. After all, we did all congregate just for you. And you were right.. life is too short to cry over spilled Alpo or who pooped in playroom 1.. Out of all the hours, days, weeks, months, years we had the pleasure to call you our friend, it wasn't enough, but we've been so blessed to have had that time.

You may be gone but all the lessons you taught us will never be fur-gotten. I can be certain that heaven is smiling today. Nancy, Alex and the rest of the passed on pack were waiting for you.

Rest in Paradise Sadie, you will be forever missed. Hh is sending their thoughts, prayers, and wishes to the entire Good family.

Thank you Jen for always being our biggest supporter in every way possible. From sending scrumptious edible arrangements and gift baskets, to showing up to every event and even speaking at Nancy's memorial service. Most of all, thank you for bringing Sadie into our lives. Thank you Chris for being an awesome dog-dad. The staff always looked forward to seeing you and the dogs always looked forward to their in-depth conversations with you through the lobby windows. Thank you Emily and Sydney for being the best humans sisters to Sadie. Even if we all knew who the favorite daughter was... Sadie

Can I get a 'Woo woo'?

4th of July Parade Info & Regristration
Happy Houn ds will be participating in Plymouth's annual GOOD MORNING AMERICA PARADE for the second year! The Parade will run on Main St. from Union to Hartsough St. Parade starts @ 9am on the 4th of July.  Happy Hounds is having a custom made float from the Detroit Parade Company to run. We are seeking the help of current clients and staff to help make this a great success. We have about 25 slots open for current clients  to walk their dogs behind the float. Our float this year may not have room for dogs to ride on as it did last year but we promise not to disappoint! Each client is welcome to bring a friend or family member; we just ask that you let us know how many people and/or pups you'll be bringing so we have a head count.

Our theme this year? Well, it's a surprise.. all we ca n say is we're having two very special guests to ride on the float and will be PRESENT for pictures afterwards. It'll be a very MERRY time, almost like Christmas in Jul y.

After the parade, Happy Hounds is having a free catered luncheon by Jeff Zak Catering, on site, to say thanks to our clients, staff and families for support since 2004. All of your families (pups included) are welcome to attend lunch. There will be pools and cake for the pups as well as a photo booth set up for everyone's enjoyment. Lunch will be ready and waiting immediately after the parade so come join us!

The menu for the luncheon will be announced as well as further details will be sent out to parade participants on when and where to meet so we can assemble our muttley crew behind the float! Any questions or special situations please get with Ashley or Andrea.

To register to walk, visit our  Parade Registration Form

Important Reminders
Please leave nylabones and rawhides at home. If packing a large bag of food, be sure to write the amount per feeding on the bag.

* Lobby doors are locked between 10am and 2pm on weekdays(Monday-Friday). We will not accept any arrivals or departures during those hours.

*  Dogs with expired vaccines will not be accepted for daycare or boarding. We require an  updated vaccination record 48 hours BEFORE he/she arrives.  If you are traveling abroad, we also will need a local contact in case of emergency.

*  Your dog MUST have a snap "quick release" collar for day care and boarding, with
no tags attached. This is important for your dogs safety.

* Please let us know at least 24 hours ahead of time for cancellations and reservations.

*  Be sure to inform us of any changes in contact information; phone numbers, email/home address, emergency contact, etc.

*  If a family member or friend is picking up your pooch from daycare or boarding, you must pre-pay your bill. If it's a last minute decision to have someone else pick your pup up, please give us a call with payment and let us know who we should be expecting.

We'd be more than happy to take any and all plastic bags off of your hands.
