Nominees for Council and Endowment Committee to be Elected at Annual Meeting II

Elections for Congregation Council and the Endowment Committee will take place at the Annual Meeting II, this Sunday, May 21, at 11:30 am in the Parish Hall.  Dorothy Nail, Dennis Ortelli, David Pellauer, and George Hall have agreed to have their names placed in nomination to fill four seats on the Council. Dorothy Nail, a native of Austin, Texas, has been an active church volunteer since moving to Ashland a few years ago. A quilter with women from the Framingham Lutheran Church, she has organized the blessing, packing, and shipping of quilts to the Lutheran World Relief distribution warehouse. She helped plan and carry out the redecoration of the Memorial Room and works each spring and fall on outdoor cleanups. Dennis Ortelli, a life-long Lutheran is retired from his job as senior purchasing manager at the Bose Corporation. David Pellauer moved from Chicago where he taught the philosophy of religion at DePaul University. In Chicago he served on his church council, as parish administrator, and also oversaw the church's school. George Hall has completed one three-year term on the Council and  is eligible for a second three-year term.  He currently serves as Council president and is the chair of the Economics Department at Brandeis University.

Kathleen Kirleis  has been nominated for a vacancy on the Endowment Committee. Currently the Vice-Chancellor for Administration and Finance at UMass Boston, Kathleen has served on the church audit committee for the past several years.  Amy Lousararian has been nominated for a second seat on the Endowment Committee.  Amy works in financial analysis and financial management. She plans to attend graduate school this year. Additional nominations for both Council and the Endowment Committee may be made from the floor of the meeting on Sunday.

All members and friends are encouraged to attend, and all voting members urged to do so, as we review the program ministries of the year coming to a close.

Youth News
Hello Church!

It has been a week of garden preparation for the youth of CLC. Plans for the garden are full speed ahead so we can plant at the very beginning of June. Look around the church and you will see the beginnings of things growing! Our youth planted seedlings that will begin life indoors until they are transplanted. A big thanks to all who have already donated time, money, and materials to get us started!

Reminder:  June 3rd, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the church, we will watch a short film and share a meal. The movie, Edible Cityis about urban gardening, it's a great film and not long at all!

Youth Movie Night: Wednesday, May 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the Memorial room. We're getting together for a movie and snacks! There will be chips and guacamole, hummus and pita and vegetables! Youth, their families and friends are cordially invited! The movie is called 'Princess Mononoke' from the creators of 'Spirited Away.'

Peace folks!

Are you able to spend an hour or more between 11 am and 6 pm to help load the truck?  Join other volunteers in the church parking lot.

Sing For Joy
Enhance your understanding of the weekly scripture readings by listening to Sing For Joy http://www.stolaf.edu/singforjoy/ from St. Olaf College.  The Sing For Joy radio program, produced by St. Olaf College , has a simple mission: to explore the weekly themes of Christian worship by providing the best in sacred choral music and thoughtful commentary. The musical performances eloquently "do the talking," while the concise remarks from host Pastor Bruce Benson illuminate the meaning of the texts.
