WBud Light Concert Series - Bella's Bartok
Saturday February 10th, 2018
Time:
9:00PM
Location: Snow Barn
Change Yer Life," the new Bella's Bartok album released on March 26th, 2016, will excite fans as the first album that truly reflects the band's pop gold klezmer punk sound. Says guitarist/accordion and mandolin player Jesse Putnam, this album "contains the songs and sounds as they are meant to be heard; the tunes refined to reflect their individual intentions." A compilation of fan favorites, "Change Yer Life" invites you to share in the spectacle of the Bella's Experience, whether while driving, sitting at home, or maybe doing some carefree improvisational dancing and jumping when (you think) nobody's watching.

From circuses and smoky soirees, Lovecraftian affairs and the nocturnal gatherings of society's undesirables, the songs on "Change Yer Life" reflect the hectic and eclectic minds that compose the group. "Social justice, classic horror, or old friends long gone" all influence Lead Singer Asher Putnam's emotional state and lyrical content. "There is always a theme and an element of the horror/fantastic in every song I write, as well as a sense of loss." These themes live and dance in this album, full of fan favorites from the live Bella's set. Songs such as The Fiddler and the Devil and The Strigoi Waltz borrow from Jewish folklore and supernatural tales. Others tend toward the more personal or emotional, as in Mother, a dance ballad written as a paean to mothers and a plea to forgive their children. Science puts on display a love for Nikola Tesla and his scientific contributions and psychological quirks. The brisk, Django-esque romp, Zora, jangles ironically over its themes of civil rights and the hypocritical violence of Zionist ideology. Creepster uses its relentlessly upbeat country vibe to unveil the inherent creepiness in coveting someone from afar, and Party Song mocks the exhausting absurdities in privileged party culture. Produced and engineered by guitarist Chris Kerrigan, "Change Yer Life" was recorded at Amity House Productions and is the first full length album with the band's current line-up.

21+, doors open at 8pm, show starts around 9pm

Tickets are $12 online and $15 at the door if still available. Online sales will end at 11:59 p.m. on February 9.

Bartleby's Books February Photography Exhibit:

Nicki Steel

Bartleby's Books is hosting its annual exhibit of Nicki Steel photography for the month of February.  Beginning February 1st, Steel with be showcasing a new series "Love and Loons," as well as her popular Hearts in Nature series.  Nicki became interested in loons and learned that three decades ago Vermont had only seven pairs of nesting loons, but this past year there were ninety pairs in Vermont.  She started following a pair and a chick on Lake Raponda beginning in April and observed them from the shore, from a kayak and even swimming for more than 100 hours.

Steel's Hearts in Nature series of notecards, photo collages, matted and framed pieces, and mini-mats are always bestsellers.  There are several new images this year including new breeds of cows with hearts and a broad-tailed hawk with heart-shaped feathers on its leg.  Fans of Steel's work will have an opportunity to meet her and see a slideshow of the loons at Bartleby's on Saturday, February 10th  at 4pm as part of the Apres-Ski After Three program organized by Wilmington Works.  Come to chat and share sample chocolates from Valley Chocolates at the meet and greet event.

Bartleby's Books is open daily from 10am - 6pm and is located at 17 West Main Street in downtown Wilmington.  Please contact the store with any questions at 802-464-5425 or visit myvermontbookstore.com.

CloudNineNuptials
Cloud Nine Nuptials on Valentines Day
at Mount Snow
Wednesday February 14th, 2018 - 10:00AM
Celebrate Valentine's Day at Mount Snow in the most romantic way possible: renew your vows or get married on the mountain at the top of Cloud Nine on Wednesday, February 14.

We will start the morning with a lift ride up the Sunbrook Quad at 9:45am.  We recommend loading the Bluebird Express lift no later than 9:20am for a ride to the summit, and then skiing down "Thanks Walt" to the bottom of Sunbrook.

If you are running a few minutes late, don't worry!  Just head up the Bluebird Express and go directly to the top of the Sunbrook Quad/top of "Cloud Nine" ski trail and meet us there.  The ceremony will begin as promptly as possible at 10:15am.

Please understand that we will have a good number of couples involved and while we hope for a beautiful bluebird day, Mother Nature is not necessarily on our side - for this reason we cannot delay the ceremony, so please plan accordingly and give yourselves plenty of time in the morning.  You can always take an extra run if early!

We'll conclude by taking a run down "Cloud Nine" and then meet us back up top inside the Summit Lodge at The Bullwheel for cake & coffee.

If you would like to get married legally, you will just need to provide the Justice of the Peace with the proper paperwork for her to sign and make the matrimony official.

Please make sure to RSVP by February 9 for this FREE event so that we can make sure to have enough cake & coffee for everyone!

Everyone needs a valid lift ticket and should be able to ski intermediate terrain. Take advantage of our Valentine Special : 2 adult lift tickets for just $59!

Did You Know?
There's a reason why the locals live here ...and eat here year round.

A destination for travelers from around the world, it's important to look at all of the fantastic adventures visitors will enjoy when they arrive.  World class slopes for skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking in winter and summer.  There are multiple lakes and miles of trails for hiking, swimming, boating and fishing to enjoy in the summer.  Great outdoor assets and we also have great food mean that the reasons to leave here are few. The reasons to visit and stay here are many.

 F
arm to table is taken to the next level with produce picked in the morning a mile up the road, on your plate at dinner.  Our restaurants often source their beef, chicken, pork, honey and herbs from farmers within miles of their restaurant.  Much to the chagrin of fine restaurants in Brattleboro and Bennington, valley residents are rarely willing to make the 20 minute drive because some of the best dining in the northeast is located in our beautiful valley towns of West Dover & Wilmington.

Chamber of Commerce Community Arts Project 2018
What's All The Buzz About?

The Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce is inviting artists of all types to participate in the 2018 Community Arts project. From painters to metal and wood crafters, all artists will be supplied with a 20" or larger circular saw blade to base their piece of art on.

Artists are encouraged to submit a sketch of their proposed piece along with a brief description and all types of media that will be used to craft the project. All proposals should be submitted to [email protected] prior to February 1. Artists and sponsors will be invited to a special "speed dating" event February 28th, 2018 to pair interested sponsors and artists.

Once sponsored artists will have until mid May to complete their sawblade. The sawblade map will be released on Memorial Day weekend and blades will be available for viewing in various locations throughout the Valley. All saw blades will go to auction during the 2018 Vermont Wine & Harvest Festival in September 2018.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center and Marketing Campaigns.

Thank you to Steve England of Super Slim Saws for agreeing to sponsor our Community Arts project.
