Truck and Career Day at Cutler Ridge Elementary
The Town's Public Work staff celebrated Truck and Career Day on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 with the students and faculty of Cutler Ridge Elementary School. Town Staff prepared presentations geared towards teaching students the effects of pollution on the environment and simple things they can do to protect our environment.
Town Celebrates 9th Annual Chili Day in Cutler Bay
The Town of Cutler Bay celebrated its 9th Annual Chili Day on Saturday, January 27.  Over 5,000 attendees converged onto Cutler Ridge Park ready for some good food and fun.  Twenty (20) chefs including four (4) firehouse chefs competed for trophies and prize money in six (6) categories: Salsa, Cornbread, Chili, People's Choice Chili, People's Choice Salsa and Best Decorated Booth.
 
Town Hosts ASPA Best Practices Conference
On Friday, February 2nd the Town hosted the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) 12th Annual Best Practices Conference. Town Hall was buzzing as over 100 professionals and public administration students from all over South Florida came together to share best practices and lessons learned in public administration.   Town Hall was converted into a convention center, hosting panels all around the building. A few day's hot panel topics; innovation, transit, disaster preparedness and recovery, and ethical governance.

Town Participates in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
On Friday, February 2nd, the Town participated in Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. The Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day goes beyond the average "shadow" of an adult. Exposing girls and boys ages 8-18 to what a parent, mentor, or guardian does during the work day is important, but showing them the value of their education, helping them discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life does more. The Town participates in this event every year, and looks forward to participating again next year.

Town Hosts Traffic Solutions Summit with Miami-Dade County Commissioner Levine Cava
On Saturday, February 3rd, the Town hosted Miami-Dade County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava's Traffic Solutions Summit. The purpose of the summit was to determine the best solutions to traffic congestion in Pinecrest through Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay. Experts examined transportation improvement plans and offered input on future plans. The goal is produce an Action Plan to reduce traffic and hold each other accountable for real results.

South Dade Delegation Visit Los Angeles Expo Line
From February 6-February 8, the Town Manager, Mayor Peggy R. Bell, along with Mayor Eugene Flinn and Village Manager Edward Silva from the Village of Palmetto Bay visited Los Angeles, California to discuss the LA Expo Line. The South Dade Delegation toured the LA Expo Blue Line, and met with Directors, Planners, and Management Officers to discuss the process, economic impacts, financing mechanisms and ridership of the Expo Line.

Many consumers lack education about residential curbside recycling.  When people put solid waste in residential recycling bins, it drives up recycling costs and can contaminate other recyclable materials such that entire loads must be landfilled. Contamination in recycling loads around Florida averages 20-30%.
Florida DEP launched a statewide "Rethink. Reset. Recycle." public education campaign to educate Floridians about curbside recycling.

This user friendly mobile app gives residents access to the latest news and events happening in the Town. Residents can also use the app to report any issues or concern via their phone. Residents can download the app for free in the iTunes Store or Google Play by searching "Cutler Bay FL"


Crime Mapping
The Town and Miami-Dade Police Department utilize CrimeMapping to help law enforcement provide the public with valuable information about recent crime activity in their neighborhoods. Crime data is uploaded on a daily basis so that the information being viewed by residents is only a few days old. To view crime trends in your neighborhood, please visit www.crimemapping.com


Community on Patrol (COP) App
The Town and Miami-Dade Police Department offer the Community on Patrol (COP) App to allow the residents of Miami-Dade to be on patrol in their neighborhoods and report any suspicious activity to the Town's Policing Unit.  The COP App can be downloaded for free in the iTunes Store or Google Play by searching "Community on Patrol"

Nextdoor
Nextdoor is a website that makes it easy to communicate with your neighbors about the issues that matter most in your community. The website allows neighbors to share recommendations about local services, organize neighborhood events and connect with parents and other groups in the neighborhood. The Town's Policing Unit staff uploads neighborhood alters through Nextdoor. Nextdoor protects you, your information, and your neighborhood. Miami-Dade Transit Tracker
Miami-Dade County Transit, which updates the Town's Circulator Bus Service, encourages you to utilize the Miami-Dade Transit Tracker App to help track your ride and plan your trip. The program allows riders to attain real-time tracking of the Town's Municipal Circulator, Metrobus and Metrorail. The App also provides fare information, Miami-Dade Transit contacts, bus schedules, and connecting buses.
