How to Practice and  Instrument Care


Come join SDYS for our second edition of Beyond the Staff. Enjoy an afternoon of food, workshops and social time. Feel free to stop by during or after your student's rehearsal!

In this edition of Beyond the Staff, Symphonic Strings Conductor, Ms. Ulli Reiner, and Instrument Librarian, Charlie Perkes will educate us all on how to practice and the importance of instrument care and maintenance.

March 11 Concert Tickets Now Available!

All 2017-18 season concerts are on sale through our website at www.sdys.org or by clicking:  

 

Tickets for the Winter Inspiration & Showcase Concerts on March 11 at Poway Center for the Performing Arts will be on sale through SDYS until 12 noon on Thursday, March 8. After 12 noon on March 8 you can purchase tickets at the door. There will be an additional charge of $5 more per ticket at the door. Student/child tickets will remain the same price at $10.

 

Special Offer: Purchase (2 or more) "Adult" tickets, and request 2 (or more) free tickets. Free tickets must be requested at the time of ticket purchase. To reserve your free tickets on line, please use the promo code SDYSFAMILY. Free tickets will NOT be available after March 8 at 12 noon or at the door.

SDYS T-shirts and Hoodies 



T-shirt and hoodies orders will be placed monthly. Please check sizes and measurements very carefully before ordering as t-shirts and hoodies cannot be returned or exchanged.

The second deadline for orders is February 13. Items will be available for pickup beginning February 28. Orders can be picked up at SDYS office during normal business hours, or at student rehearsals

to conservatory and community

on  the weekends during rehearsals.

Symphony Meets Science

Spend a wonderful evening exploring the relationship between music and the science of listening. All ages will be delighted by performers spanning jazz, classical, and percussion - from Bartok to Beethoven to Bjork.

This event will be preceded by a special pre-show Science Fair for all ages, from 6 to 7pm,

Heart of a Child Benefit Concert Audition

The 7th annual "Heart of a Child" benefit concert will be held the evening of Saturday, April 28, 2018. Resounding Joy is looking for the best musicians in San Diego to perform at the concert. Video auditions are currently being accepted for soloist and small groups. Auditions are best submitted by 
YouTube, Vimeo or personal website.

The Student Voices Campaign is an annual statewide creative video competition for students (grades 7-12) to make their voices heard! This year, we're asking students like you to show why the arts matter and ask your school board to adopt the official declaration of Student Rights to Arts Learning.

First, second, and third place winning videos will be selected and recognized at a special event in the Bay Area in Spring 2018, where they will be screened in front of a statewide audience!
