Re-Enrollment, Course Selection, & Tuition Assistance
At York Catholic, we are grateful for your partnership with us in the education of your children who bless our community everyday with their talents.  Please read the following information thoroughly as it contains important information regarding course selection, re-enrollment, and tuition assistance for the 2018-2019 school year.

Course Selection
Junior High
Junior High students should have returned their course selection paperwork with the appropriate signatures last week.  Junior High students will register for courses online during computer class in the week ahead.

Quick Links

Senior High
Senior High students should be talking with their subject level teachers regarding appropriate course selection for 2018-2019. Students in grades 9 through 11 now have access to the online course selection portal in MMS. This will remain open for three weeks. During this time, students should select their courses for next school year. After completing the process online, students are instructed to print the course selection sheet and have each of their teachers sign next to the desired subject courses. A parent signature is required as well. These forms will be due February 23, 2018.

Parents, please take the time to click here  to review our course catalog for next school year. We are excited to be offering two new courses to include Women in Science, and Biology 1.5. We are also looking forward to the return of Journalism as an English elective.

An additional change in the academic schedule next year for both Junior High and Senior High involves the move to a static schedule. Currently all courses rotate across an 8 day cycle. Next year, we will move to a 6 day static cycle and all major courses will be offered at the same time daily.

Re-enrollment
In an effort to prepare for the budget and enrollment numbers for next year, we have aligned the re-enrollment process with our course selection once again. Tuition figures for next year will be published in early April after budget approval by the School Board. In order to budget appropriately, we are asking families to re-enroll now. The early re-enrollment fee is $150.00 per student.  After February 23, 2018, the re-enrolment fee will increase to $200.00, with an increase to $250.00 after April 6, 2018. As in the past, $150.00 of the re-enrollment fee will be applied to your child's 2018-2019 tuition.

Tuition Assistance
Our Advancement Department continues to work hard with our donors to increase tuition assistance opportunities for our students. If you plan to apply for assistance, please be sure to do so no later than April 17, 2018. If you require assistance in completing this application, you may make an appointment with our Business Office Manager, Ms. Heather Dougherty, March 20 or March 21, at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x215.

Parent Referral Program
If you know a friend, family member or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $50 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic, with a chance to win a $500 credit.

York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education.  Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $50 credit towards their child's tuition.

You, as parents, are our best ambassadors.   In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click here to fill out the form. During the registration process, if you are listed as the referring individual for a friend or other enrolling individual, we will credit your child 's account with $50.  In May, one family who referred someone who enrolled at YC will be randomly selected to win a $500 tuition credit.

It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the link above and allow us the opportunity to do what we love - help to develop, nurture and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!

Thank you for all you do for our school!

Retreat - Grade 7
The 7th grade class will be enjoying a Retreat Day on Thursday, February 15, from 8:30 AM-3 PM at Holy Infant Parish in Manchester, PA.  Our day will be led by the NET Ministries Team #2 and our theme will be "Fully Alive (True Happiness)."

We will need host families to house and feed same-gender pairs of the NET Team for two nights on Wednesday, February 14, and Thursday, February 15. Junior High One-Act Play Auditions
Auditions for the Junior High One-Act Play will be held February 14 and 15 from 3-4 PM in room 210. Interested students in grades 7 and 8 should sign-up on the sheet outside of room 210. Students will be assigned a piece of work to read and perform. Students will be given time to practice the piece and then time to perform it.

This year's Junior High One Act Play is entitled, The Twilight Cone. It is Marcus's first day working at the Twilight Cone, an ice cream shop owned by his great aunt. When his aunt must run an errand, Marcus forgets his promise to serve only vanilla while he is alone in the store. Strange things begin to occur (time is rewound or slowed down, just to name two) when unusual flavors of ice cream are ordered and eaten. What will happen to Marcus and those who order ice cream from the Twilight Cone?  The play is being performed Friday, March 23, from 7-7:30 PM in the auditorium.

A spaghetti dinner will be prepared and served by Junior High Student Council members to families of 6th grade students at 6 PM prior to the start of the performance. All 6th graders will eat for free. A fee of $6 per person over the age of 5 will be charged to help cover the cost of food. Please RSVP to Rachel Shanko at [email protected] with the 6th grader's name, the family's name, and the total number of people attending by March 15.

Early Dismissal / Teacher In-Service

We will be dismissing students at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 16, so that teachers may attend an important In-service. School districts will run their pick-up earlier to accommodate our students. There will be no supervision available in the building after 11:30 AM. Any students remaining after dismissal will need to call a parent or guardian for pick-up.
Snow Make-up Day - Feb. 19

When the school calendar was created, we built in 4 snow days.  We have now used 5 so at this point we need to make up 1 day.  In light of this, we will now be in session on Presidents' Day, Monday, February 19.
Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 14, at 10:20 AM in the auditorium.  Visitors are welcome to join us as we begin our Lenten journey with Christ.

Inclement Weather
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system.  Other modes of notification include WGAL TV-8, Fox43, and the YC website.  Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS.  The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern.  These students follow York Catholic's delay and closing schedule.
Music Association Meeting
Parents of music and choral students are welcome to attend the York Catholic Music Association meeting on Tuesday, February 13, at 6:30 PM. The meetings usually last approximately one hour and everyone's input and feedback are welcomed and appreciated. Your help in planning and implementing the efforts of the YCMA are critical.
