Winter 2015

The holiday gift promoting frenzy started almost at the same time as the stores were dismantling their Halloween displays. I'm always amazed by the number of catalogs that suddenly begin appearing in my mailbox. Some of them advertise the number of regular shipping days before your only option is overnight shipping. Others promote sales in advance of Black Friday.

I advocate giving gifts that don't add clutter! Spend some time with the person to whom you're giving the gift if that's possible. Do something together. You will know better than I what that person would like to do/receive. But I do have a few ideas which I have listed below. Before you get to that consider adding a note on the tag for your gift letting the recipient know why you selected that particular gift.
  1. Baked goods
  2. A basket of fruit
  3. A gift certificate to a night of babysitting
  4. An invitation to lunch and a play or a movie
  5. An excursion to a local (or not so local) tourist destination
  6. Tickets to a sporting event
  7. A gift certificate for a spa treatment
  8. A picnic in the park
Enjoy the season and try not to let all the advertising take the joy and splendor out of the season!
