Welcome to summer! School may be out, but our work is not done. This month the Lawrence Township School Foundation revs up for the "Race to the Finish" before our fiscal year ends, June 30th. It's not too late to donate to LTSF and make a difference for the students of Lawrence Township.
We also take the opportunity to recognize our greatest asset, the LT staff that goes above and beyond every day to improve our community, through the Foundation's Honor An Educator Program. It's not too early to submit someone you know who deserves a special thank you.
Finally, we welcome a new class of alumni, the Lawrence Central and Lawrence North Class of 2017. Congratulations on your recent graduation and welcome to the LT alumni community. We cannot wait to see what amazing things your future holds.

C Alum Returns Through Blue Ribbon Facilities Plan
|
Kevin Kendall, Lawrence Central Class of 1988,
returned to Lawrence Township as the Project Manager under RLTurner Corporation for the McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology (MCIT) renovations completed earlier this year that began in 2016. The construction was a result of the Blue Ribbon Facilities Campaign investment plans which outline our district's commitment to updating LT buildings through 2019 to make our LT community stronger.
We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Kevin after he played at the "Fore The Kids" Golf Outing with a foursome which included other members of the RLTurner team.
A Ball State University graduate with a History degree, Kevin explored different fields of work before joining RLTurner and will soon be celebrating 10 years with the company. Kevin compared the MCIT project team to a football team, equating his position to a lineman who clears the way for the project to proceed. "Helping the team promotes success."
When asked about his favorite memories, Kevin answered, "Playing soccer, going to football games with friends. [And] it was a great environment to learn." Now, Kevin has noticed some new initiatives in LT, especially getting to work at the career center. "I was excited because the project went well...but also because I got to see what McKenzie is all about."

The district is grateful for the work RLTurner and the subcontractors have done (and will do) through Blue Ribbon, and LTSF is especially glad that it has reconnected us to successful LT alumni.

LC Grad Wins
Monumental Mile
Claflin closing in on a 4 minute mile!
Conn
or Claflin won the men's elite race in the Monume
ntal Mile. The course which goes down Meridia
n Street to the Monumental Circle was navigated with ease for Claflin. He completed this mile course in 4 minutes, 6.4 seconds.
While at LC, Connor was a member of the track and cross country teams. He then went on to Columbia University where he was named a Heptagonal champion.
Way to go Connor!

Spencer supports the Wildcats!
2011 grad, Ashley Spencer, earned Olympic glory
 last summer as an individual medalist in women's track and field, the first from Indiana since the modern Olympic Games debuted in 1896. This summer she returned to Indianapolis on the day of the IHSAA State track and field meet and is pictured here with current LN runner Mary Watts.
