Dear St. Isidore Families,
Love Is All We Need
Throughout February, we will celebrate the monthly gospel value of
LOVE
. They say
Love
is the condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own. It is the main underlying goal that we as human beings strive for and something that we all have in common. Love unites us and brings us closer to each other and God. Thank you for rallying around last weeks Catholic Schools Week events. The staff thoroughly enjoyed the Annual Bake-Off. Congrats to the Bake-Off winners, Stephanie Sandbergen and Alida Beilke. All dishes were delicious, and we truly felt the
LOVE
.
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the loss of former parent, Kathy Oertli. Kathy had three beautiful children who graduated from here, as well as many nieces and nephews, some of whom are still part of our student body. Kathy was gentle, kind, and we will miss her deeply. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time. A vigil will be held on Thursday, February 8
th
, at 7:00pm and the funeral will be Friday, February 9
th
, at 1:30pm. To alleviate the disruption of carpool and allow for staff and many families to attend the service,
school dismissal on Friday has been changed to 12:00pm.
Kids Konnection will be available. I appreciate your flexibility and understanding.
On Friday, our third-grade class will celebrate Grandparents Day! This tradition allows the third graders to invite their grandparents to mass. Following mass, the third graders sit down to a special breakfast with their grandparent. The morning is full of fun and games for all to enjoy. It is a special day and wonderful display of
LOVE
which they will treasure a lifetime.
Next week is Random Acts of Kindness Week (RAOK). It is celebrated nationwide to encourage acts of kindness. Kindness is encouraged here daily through our faith, but this is a special time where it is celebrated in the larger community. I encourage you to do an RAOK, small or large, with your child. It is proven that it actually feels better to do an act of kindness than to receive an act of kindness, so go and spread the
LOVE
.
Tuesday, February 13
th
is “Fat Tuesday” and this southern Principal is excited! In honor of Mardi Gras, we will be dressing in green, gold, and purple with jean bottoms for a $1 donation. All donations will go to “Change the Future” charity. A charity that helps give education to those in need in the Philippines. We have also partnered with Chow restaurant for a “Fat Tuesday” Give Back Day. They will donate 10% back to SIS on their dine-in lunch and dinner – just make sure to mention SIS.
Lent is a great time for reflection and prayer. Every year, our eight8
th
grade students write daily Lenten reflections. These reflections help us to prepare for the coming of Easter and enhance our spiritual life. To sign up to receive these reflections,
