Dear Saint Rose Families,

I am of the mindset that if it is going to be cold, then it might as well snow.  To me, the past few weeks of weather have been great. Plenty of sledding,  skiing and snow hiking possibilities. That said, yesterday's weather added some aspects that made travel to school a bit risky. It was an unusual day, when Perrysburg had class starting at their normal time and we already had a two hour delay planned.  The roads  seemed to deteriorate during the morning commute.  I made the rare call for us to not have school.  Our teacher meeting went on as planned and we ended up having a very productive day.
We will continue to follow Perrysburg and its decision regrading weather delays and cancellations.  We are in their district, and they provide the majority of our transportation.  Perrysburg has the expertise and people to best evaluate road conditions and make these determinations.
It looks like more winter weather is on its way.  Please continue to follow Perrysburg Schools regarding classes for Saint Rose Catholic School.  If you like snow, it looks like a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Bryon Borgelt

6th Grade Super Bowl Project

Students in sixth grade math were asked, "What will you serve at your Super Bowl party?"   In groups they chose the number of guests at their "party."   Then they investigated food items, their servings, and the cost.
Pictured are the team members: Joseph Dynda, Tyler Jeffrey, Amelia Taylor, and Emma Fister.
They calculated unit rates for the cost per guest.   Each group had to stay within a $40 budget.  In addition to math skills, students had to practice critical thinking to adhere to their budgets.   Many were quite surprised by the cost of food!   Each group created table with the menu items and prices along with a plate with images of the food items that they would serve at their party.  Visitors to Room 16 at Open House voted on their favorite party menu.

Congratulations Team #6 (Super Bowl Bash) for receiving the most votes!

Class Mass for 2nd Grade - THIS SUNDAY!

The next Class mass will be held on Sunday, February 11 at the 9am Mass.  Families with children in 2nd grade are invited to worship together and to gather for a light reception to socialize in the Sacred Heart Center (school cafeteria) following Mass. This is a wonderful time to strengthen or create bonds of Christian friendship. This is open to all parishioners and school families.

Please CLICK HERE to RSVP with the number who will be attending so that pews can be reserved in the front near the Saint Joseph altar and so that food can be provided. You can also sign up for your family to bring up the Offertory gifts or to be Greeters before Mass. Alternatively, you may RSVP with your family name and number of attendees by emailing Anne Brahier at [email protected].

The response to the first Class Masses has been very positive. The Parish/School Relations Subcommittee hopes that many families will attend on February 11.

Thank you
