Edna Mae Pifer, age 95, passed away May 7, 2017.
Edna was born in Mansfield, Ohio, December 26, 1921. Her family moved to Wadsworth, Ohio, where she lived most of her life. She attended Wadsworth High School.
Mom married her high school sweetheart, Albert (Tuck) Pifer on January 14, 1939. Mom and Dad were married 74 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lena Powell; her husband, Tuck; and her six siblings, Gladys, Helen, Roy, Clyde, Ruth and Lois.
She worked at the Babcox and Wilcox Company for three years as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. She also worked at Hallies at Summit Mall and Ladrach's Shoe store in Wadsworth. She was a member of The Wadsworth Hospital Auxzillary as a volunteer for a time. She attended The First Christian Church in Wadsworth.
She loved Christmas time, decorating the house, and making floral arrangements. She also loved shopping with her sisters, wearing earrings, working in the yard, cooking, especially baking wonderful cookies and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She leaves behind three children, JoAnn, Gail, Dan and (Cathi) Pifer; seven grandchildren, Carrie (Dave) Kelly, Kim (Kent), Amy (Lee), Becca (Joe), Katie (Adam) and Joe (Taylor); 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.
Mom was a beautiful woman inside and out. Most of all she was a wonderful mother that always put her family first.

We wish to thank Crossroads nurses and all the other people from Crossroads who gave our mother such wonderful care, especially her granddaughter, Kelly Hoeft of Crossroads.
Memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street in Wadsworth, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
