5:00pm Worship Service Historic Sanctuary: scripture, music, prayer & a brief message. Bring a candle or votive if you have one. If not, we have some extras.
5:30-7:00pm Potluck (finger foods and dessert): bring an appetizer or dessert to share! Thanks to Membership Care for their help.
7:00-9:00pm Karaoke

The LightIndividuals/family will light their candles together and leave on the altar for the remainder of the worship service. At the conclusion of the service, you will take a different candle home with you as a memory of the event. Our goal is to provide a unique, spiritual, uplifting and memorable worship experience among the walls of our Historic Sanctuary followed by the warmth of friendship and fellowship.

Join us this Sunday, June 11 for
Traditional Worship at 9:30am and/or Informal Worship at 11:00am when our scriptures will be Genesis 1:1-5, Psalm 1:1-3 and Matthew 28:16-20 with a sermon entitled BYOL (Bring Your Own Light). Now that we have been the gift of the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised and was delivered last Sunday at Pentecost, we remember the great commission. We are sent as light to the world - teaching people what Jesus taught us and commanded us to do. We go with the Spirit.

Remember to wear purple this Sunday...
June is Alzheimer's (dementia) & Brain Awareness month for the Alzheimer's Association. And, for Parkway, Sunday is our "Go Purple" Day. By wearing purple, a ribbon, or a sticker you are showing your support for families experiencing this disease, and helping us raise awareness of Alzheimer's Disease, the nation's sixth-leading cause of death. Education, awareness and conversation about the disease are vitally important. Caregivers need specialized support for their loved one, and for themselves, during their Alzheimer's journey. Today PUCC is proud to host a Care Consultation Day from 12:00 noon till 4:00PM. Successful One Family Worship, Annual Meeting, PUNS Farewell last Sunday.

Karla Shelton and family - as they grieve/give thanks for her mother - visitation 1-4pm then funeral this Sunday, June 11 at Pitman, Wentzville followed by party at Cave Spring Bowling Alley, St. Peters - band and dancing... food and drink will be available for purchase. (Karla's father died in early May)
John Williams - spots on lung - undergoing tests.
Doug Watson - at Meramec Bluffs for rehab; cancer has returned. ##

Ann Lee (Glenn) Grone died peacefully on June 4, 2017 at the age of 93. Cherished daughter of the late Katherine Davis Glenn and the late R.P. Glenn of Glenn Acres Farm, Columbia, MO. Beloved wife for 62 years of the late George G. Grone. Dear mother of David George (Cindy), the late John Glenn Grone, and Robert Parks (Jeanne) Grone. Precious grandmother "Honey" of David Grone, Sarah (Jake) Weldon, Katie (Darren) Patterson, Benjamin Grone, and Brennen (Camilla) Grone. Great Grandmother to Seanna, Emma, and Scout.
Anna Lee, a 1945 graduate of Christian College, had a gracious and generous heart with a beautiful love for her Lord, family, friends, and horses! She served for many years on the board of the St. Louis National Charity Horse Show, volunteered with the Salvation Army, was an active member of P.E.O., Chapter GX, and a devoted member of Parkway United Church of Christ.
Anna Lee's kind and loving ways left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her, providing a shining example of how to live life with grace.
Services: The family will hold a private burial service. Interment Elm Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkway United Church of Christ, 2841 N. Ballas Road, St. Louis, MO 63131, or The Salvation Army. A service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

Notes to Africa
Denyse has mentioned that the children in her village love anything involving English words. Most students in Tanzania attend Swahili speaking primary schools, but then are instructed in English once they enter secondary school. It's a challenge for teachers and students. I'm sure the kids in her village would love to receive a written note from someone in the United States. I also thought they would love to receive that note on a postcard with a picture on the front. So what I'm asking, if you are willing and interested, whether you travel this summer, or stay in town, grab a post card and write a note on it. We'll put a box in the gathering space or church office to collect them. Toward the end of summer I'll send all of the postcards to Denyse and she can distribute them.
You are a generous group of people! I thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers for Denyse while she is on this journey and I also thank you for the same you offered me during my recuperation. Your kindness is a blessing.

This is a great opportunity to discuss positive actions towards a clean energy future. Now is the time when people are standing up and demanding we protect Creation and the health of the planet.
