Ophthalmologist, MMA Member Wins Humanitarian Award
On June 7, MMA member James A. Garrity, MD, received the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology's 2017 George T. Tani, MD, Humanitarian Award, which is given annually to an MAO member who demonstrates a pattern of humanitarian service involving charitable activities, indigent care and community service. Garrity founded and directs a monthly eye care clinic for people without insurance at the Rochester Salvation Army. He practices oculoplastics and neuro-ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic. 
MN Community Measurement Annual Seminar Set for Sept. 13
Join your colleagues in health care measurement and improvement for a day of enrichment, education and meaningful discussions at MN Community Measurement's 2017 Annual Seminar on Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Earle Brown Heritage Conference Center in Brooklyn Center. The event will feature Shantanu Agrawal, MD, president and CEO of the National Quality Forum, as well as panel discussions on health equity, patient experience, total cost of care, and measure development, process and alignment. Registration is now open.
Volunteer Opportunities Available for Physicians on State Boards
