DMMC Springfield Drive Down a Success
The Conference held its annual Springfield Drive Down on April 25 and 26. During the Drive Down, a dedicated group of members lobbied legislators at the Capitol on topics of importance to municipalities and their residents, including the state budget, protecting local revenue, the potential impacts of property tax freeze legislation, and protecting local regulation of deployment of wireless infrastructure. Members met with a number of officials and legislators during their time at the Capitol, were provided with the opportunity to hear presentations by Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti and Treasurer Michael Frerichs, and participated in the Conference's Springfield Legislative Reception and Dinner, which was well-attended by legislators.

2017 Annual Dinner and Recognition Ceremony
On May 19, though the rain fell and the winds howled, over 120 members, Corporate Partners, and guests enjoyed a beautiful evening for the DMMC 2017 Annual Dinner and Recognition Ceremony at the Medinah Shrine Center in Addison. During the induction ceremony, outgoing President and Warrenville Mayor David Brummel thanked the 2016-2017 Board of Directors for their hard work and dedication. He then passed the gavel to Addison Mayor Richard Veenstra who enthusiastically welcomed the 2017-2018 Board of Directors. Mayor Veenstra assumed the Conference presidency on June 1, 2017, assisted by Vice President Nunzio Pulice, Mayor of Wood Dale.

Thank You and Best Wishes to Lisle Mayor Joseph Broda
Mayor Joseph Broda has been a valued member of the Conference, generously contributing his time, talents, and expertise. He has served the Conference as President and Vice President, Director and member of the Legislative Committee, and member of the Intergovernmental/Planning Committee, and has participated in numerous Mayors Only Coffees and Springfield Drive Downs.
Mayor Broda has devoted 31 years to serving the Village of Lisle, the past 16 as mayor. Mayor Broda has tirelessly served the municipalities of the region and the State of Illinois as Vice President and Executive Board member of the Illinois Municipal League and Executive Committee member of DuPage Public Safety Communications (DU-COMM).
We thank Mayor Broda for his extraodinary service and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Thank You and Best Wishes to Burr Ridge Village Administrator Steve Stricker
After 27 years of serving the Village and the Conference, Steve is "going fishing". His absence will not go unnoticed. Steve could always be counted on to contribute invaluable support and expertise to better the Conference and municipalities of the region. Steve has been a member of the Board of Directors; Director, Deputy Director, and member of the Budget and Operations Committee; Director, Deputy Director, and member of the Regulatory Issues Committee; member of the Intergovernmental Relations Committee; member of the Legislative Committee; Director and member of the Water Conveyance Task Force; and Director of the Grade Crossing Task Force. He has also been an active participant in numerous Springfield Drive Downs.
Regionally, Steve has served as Chair of the Northern Illinois Natural Gas Franchise Consortium; member of the Community Development Commission; President of the Illinois Association of Municipal Management Assistants; member of the Illinois City Management Association Board of Directors; member of the Intergovernmental Personnel Benefit Cooperative Board of Directors and Executive Board; and member of the International City/County Management Association. His significant involvement with the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency has included serving as Chair and Treasurer of the Agency, as well as Chair of the Agency's Ad-Hoc Committee on Alternative Underwriting and Finance Committee and member of the Policies and Procedures Committee and Fire Chiefs Sub-Committee.
We thank Steve for his vast, instrumental contributions to the Conference and to the region. We wish Steve all the best in his retirement.

Transit Oriented Development Workshop
On April 10, the Conference hosted a workshop on Transit Oriented Development (TOD). The workshop provided examples and resources for TOD in DuPage County. Presenters included Lynnette McRae and Kendra Freeman, Managers for the Metropolitan Planning Council; Than Werner, Planning and Zoning Administrator for the City of Elmhurst; Sean O'Gorman, Jr., Project Architect for FitzGerald Associates Architects; Kristen Andersen, Principal Planner for Metra Commuter Rail; and Colin Murphy, Researcher for Shared-Use Mobility Center.

DMMC 2017 STP Workshop
The call for FY 2018 - 2023 Surface Transportation Program (STP) project proposals is fast approaching!
Whether you're new to the STP or a seasoned professional, the workshop aims to provide useful information to help you successfully utilize the STP program. This workshop will provide project sponsors with information for using DuPage Council STP funds. Attendance is voluntary. Staff from IDOT, CMAP, and the Conference will be on hand to discuss their organizations' roles in the STP process and to answer any questions. Eligible local transportation projects include sidewalks, bikeways, traffic signal improvements, road reconstructions and resurfacings, and many others.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, the Village of Lombard and Heartland Blood Centers will be hosting a blood drive at two locations. At Yorktown Center from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the Village of Lombard Village Hall from 1:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The July 25 Municipal Surplus Vehicle and Equipment Auction at America's Auto Auction in Crestwood is just a month away. There is still time to join Aurora,

SUBURBAN PURCHASING COOPERATIVE UPDATES
|

The Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) Governing Board has awarded the first of three (3) possible, one-year contract extensions on Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Ethanol, and Bio Diesel Fuel (Contract #159) to MBE vendor Gas Depot Company of
Morton Grove.
The contract extension is effective July 6, 2017 through July 5, 2018. Pricing will remain the same, with the exception of a $0.06/gallon price increase for fuel deliveries of less than 2,500 gallons. The contract extension also contains the following changes to the product offerings:
* Suppliers no longer offer 92 octanes, so 93 octanes are the only Premium No-Lead option.
* The 70/30 blend is a combination of #2 grade diesel and #1 grade diesel. Since OPIS has a separate accounting of each product and since the SPC requires mark-up on each product, the 70/30 blend is obsolete.
* Separate line items for E75 and E85 have been combined as the suppliers/terminals need to adjust the amount of ethanol throughout the year by mandate of the EPA. Depending on the time of year the product name changes. For example, January thru March it may be E75 and April through August, E85.
* Due to demand for bio-blends, B2, B5, B11 and B20 fuels have been added as line items.

SPC Extends Ford, Chevy Truck Contracts
The Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) Governing Board awarded final contract extensions on a variety of Ford and Chevrolet Trucks. Contracts are extended through the end of the 2017 model year production (estimated to be Fall 2017) on the following vehicles through Currie Fleet of Frankfort:
Ford F-250 Super Duty Pick Up (Contract #142)
Ford F-350 Super Duty Pick Up (Contract #143)
Ford F-450XL Chassis Cab (Contract #145)
Ford F550XL Chassis Cab (Contract #146)
The Chevrolet Tahoe Police Patrol Package (Contract #147) through Currie Motors of Forest Park has been extended from April 11, 2017 through April 10, 2018. Orders for the 2017 model are being accepted through the factory order cut-off date in May. When production begins on the 2018 model year, there will be no price increase.
