STUDENT SLIDESHOWS

Take another peek at the slideshows from this week's programs:

NEXT STOP: FIRST GRADE

Kindergarten students showed off all of their skills during their end-of-year program in front of a packed house of family and friends.

FIRST GRADE READS TO KINDERGARTEN

Students were excited, proud, and nervous to read the Hebrew books they wrote to the kindergartners. Watch them  here.

EXPERIENCING LEARNING

2nd graders made rockets in STEM class. From start to takeoff, they loved being engineers.

SCIENCE MATTERS

After students learned about biomimicry and explored the lily pads in the garden for inspiration, 3rd graders then designed and made floating cities.

BLESSINGS

In Annette Wolk's class, 3rd grade culminated the Berachot unit of learning Brachot Rishonim and Achronot (blessings said before and after eating) by inviting 1st grade to its store. Each child had a shopping bag and Beracha money. They went shopping at the tables, choosing wrappers of foods of different Berachot. At check out, third graders reviewed the items in the shopping bags and their Berachot and told them the Berachot Achronot, after blessing, for each item.

GOOD SPORTS

The sports banquet celebrated the stars of our volleyball, flag football, basketball, and track and field teams. Two students were recognized with the Darryl Lazarow Sportsmanship Award, which was named in memory of a beloved Akiba dad and coach.

ART AND LEARNING

7th graders researched a Jewish hero from the mishnaic era and created a piece of art using materials that helped tell his/her story.
