Outstanding Keynote Speakers Headline Summit 2017 in Muskegon

Dr. Phillip Atiba Goff and Dr. Charles H. F. Davis III addressed the audience at Summit 2017, speaking on racial equity as it relates to the topics of policing and education, respectively. Both keynote speakers delivered unforgettable messages to the more than 650 people in attendance.

Held on May 23 at the Frauenthal Center in Muskegon, the LEDA Summit on Race and Inclusion featured a list of seven nationally-recognized speakers. Through a day-long series of keynotes, breakout sessions, and a panel discussion, the audience learned about some of the latest research and thought related to studies of racial equity and justice.

Nursing student wins annual Denny Chan Youth Leadership Award

On May 23, during the Summit on Race and Inclusion, we announced the 
first annual recipient of the Denny Chan Youth Leadership Award: Yessica Garcia.

In 2016, the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance established the Denny Chan Youth Leadership Award to support the work of young people advancing a society that values and respects all of its members. The is award is given to a youth in our Migrant Mentoring or Calling All Colors programs, and is accompanied by a $500 scholarship .
