Rebuild Committee Updates

Hohokam announced its rebuild committee members this week. You can find that list here, on Hohokam's new bond page.

Pima is currently forming its committee. Interested parents, teachers and neighbors should contact the school or fill out our bond feedback form on bond.susd.org.

WEEKLY PROGRESS

On Tuesday, June 20, the Governing Board  approved the first phase of construction at Hopi (ground-level work), which means we'll see fences up and shovels in the ground later this summer. This initial work does not impact ongoing conversations about exterior design and final placement of the new entrance off Rubicon. There is still time for careful consideration before those decisions are made.

Also on Tuesday,  the Governing Board gave the approval for the next phase of work at Cheyenne (vertical construction). Cheyenne's new additions will be built simultaneously, with the goal of opening the new gym in plenty of time for 8th grade graduation next year.

Finally, on Tuesday,  the Governing Board approved a contractor for the Pima rebuild, who will now begin working with architects to discuss preliminary design plans.

RUMOR OF THE WEEK ( or: Myth Busting)

There was concern in the community this week that Cheyenne's construction projects were delayed and would not start this school year.

We're pleased to say this is false.  As noted previously, demolition at Cheyenne began last week, and this week, the Governing Board gave the green light for vertical construction to begin. Cheyenne is on track.

Thank you for your dedication to our Scottsdale students and schools!
