Goats return to Castle Pines

For the third year in a row, the PineRidge Homeowners Association in Castle Pines has hired Goat Green, LLC and their herd of goats to help work the fire adaptive community. On June 12, 300 goats arrived in Castle Pines to eat through oak groves in the open space areas of three homeowners associations: PineRidge, Buffalo Ridge, and The Retreat. The goal of using goats in fire mitigation is to reduce vertical and horizontal continuity of vegetation to prevent fire from spreading quickly and from getting into trees where it is harder to put out.
