Help for Haiti
Hales Corners Lutheran Church, Hales Corners, WI, recently sent a team off to Haiti. As you may recall, Mr. Albert Amling went "Hairless for Haiti," which helped to secure funds for the mission work. As of press time, Mr. Amling, Mrs. Horn, Mrs. Campbell and The Rev. Christian Wood, along with parents and several former students, are in Haiti, sharing God's love! We request prayers for safe travels and for God to use them for His glory.

Missionary Visit
Pastor Carl Hanson, his wife Chenhsi, and daughters Emma, Andrea and Lydia, visited New Life & Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Churches in San Francisco on Friday, June 16, 2017. Pastor Hanson is currently the LCMS OIM Director of Operations - Asia, which includes China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines, etc.

Pastor Hanson and his family shared about the significant work God has called him to do, i.e. working with governments, schools, & LCMS-related church bodies to help God's Gospel work to continue and even more effectively expand. Pastor Hanson took the opportunity to challenge the young people to consider if Jesus was calling them into full time Gospel ministry.

The Hanson family is attending the 2017  Lutheran Women's Missionary League Convention in Albuquerque, NM where Pastor Hanson is one of the speakers.

Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT)
By Rev. Ted Laesch, Chapel of the Cross, St. Louis, MO

Jesus said, "In the world you will have tribulation..." (John 16:33)

You don't have to look far to see it, feel it, experience it: tribulation. Broken relationships, sicknesses, tragedy, financial difficulties, disease, death -- there is no shortage of tribulation in this world. And it comes to all of us. Jesus did not say that you might have tribulation. He didn't say that you will probably have tribulation. He said, you will have tribulation.

But lest we run and hide, cry and complain, lose hope and give in to despair from the impending tribulation that we will undoubtedly undergo, hear what else Jesus has to say:

" ...But take heart!  I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)
