Smigelsky Finishes Oh So Close to PGA Championship Birth!

Dale Smigelsky, PGA Director of Golf at Collindale Golf Course in Ft. Collins, has been on a tear lately. After winning the Ft. Collins Country Club Pro-Am, Smigelsky posted a top-10 finish in the CoBank Colorado Senior Open and then qualified for the upcoming U.S. Senior Open. Smigelsky kept up that hot play at the PGA Professional Championship this week in Oregon and almost punched his ticket to the PGA Championship!

Smigelsky finished in 27th place by posting a two-over 74 in the final round after climbing all the way up to 18th place with just six holes left to go! The top 20 players qualified for the upcoming PGA Championship set for Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte, N.C.

Volunteers Needed for USOC FLAME Program

We are looking for volunteers to help at the USOC FLAME program on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Club at Flying Horse from 3:00p to 6:00p. The program will include four stations for students: Full Swing, Chipping, Putting and Career Development.

The Road to Augusta Continues at Fort Collins CC

Fort Collins Country Club hosted the second of seven Drive, Chip and Putt local qualifiers on Monday, June 19. A registered field of 135 players competed for three qualifying spots in each age bracket, two alternates and the opportunity to move on to the Sub-Regional Qualifier to be held at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve on August 19. 

Winners from this event and prospective winners of future qualifiers will eventually be given the opportunity to compete at Augusta National Golf Club in the Drive, Chip and Putt National Championships--a hallmark event of the Master's Week festivities since 2013.

Seniors Take Title at CC of Colorado Pro-Am

Randy Bregar, Gregg Jones and Ken Krieger didn't let age come in their way of winning the Country Club of Colorado Pro-Am on Monday, June 19, 2017. The trio all shot rounds of one-under-par 71 at the Pete Dye designed club in Colorado Springs to tie for the victory.

National Car Rental Colorado Assistants Professional Championship -- Registration Deadline July 13

Registration is now open for the National Car Rental Colorado Assistant Professional Championship set for July 31-Aug. 1 at Highlands Ranch Golf Club.  The event is open to Class A-8 Members and all Apprentices who must be eligibly employed and in good standing at the time of entry and the entry deadline date of July 13, 2017.
Colorado PGA Senior Professional Championship -- Registration Deadline July 26

Registration for the Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship is now open! The event, open to all PGA Members 50 years of age and older as of Sept. 28, 2017, will be held at Valley Country Club, Aug. 14-15, 2017.

Colorado PGA Women's Championship -- Registration Deadline Aug. 16
 
The Colorado PGA's Women's Championship will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 22-23, at The Golf Club at Ravenna. The championship is open to all female PGA and LPGA members in good standing whom reside or work within the Colorado Section boundaries.

2017 Colorado Section Championship -- Registration Deadline Aug. 23

Registration is now open for the 2017 Colorado PGA Professional Championship set for the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club, September 11-13, 2017.  The event is open to call Class A Members as well as members classified as Life Member Active and Life Member Master Professional Active.  The entry fee for the event is $250.  The deadline to register is August 23, 2017.

When some of the kids from The First Tee of Green Valley Ranch were asking David Duval about the core values the organization teaches, the 2001 British Open champion couldn't help but chuckle when "perseverance" was mentioned.

Grant Funds Available to Golf Programs for Individuals with Disabilities

The National Alliance for Accessible Golf is offering grant funds in 2017 for inclusive golf programs for people with disabilities. Program grantees have up to one year from the original date of the grant to use the funds and complete their inclusive program. The grants may be used to defray core program costs and support programs to help golfers with disabilities, both learn and transition into playing the game.
