CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

This Week in Sunday School
As we head into the summer, we will start looking at Paul's transformation from Saul.  We will play games, make crafts and eat.  Join us for fun as we travel will Paul.

Summer is here and we will need lots of help with our wonderful children.  Ask about how easy it is!  See Jeannie downstairs with any questions and to sign up!

Join us downstairs for Sunday School and spend time with our amazing kids!  We are changing our program to make it easier for volunteers.  Come down and see the new set up and then sign up to help!! These also give you a chance to welcome new families to our church!  You can also help teach our children as a Teacher or Shepherd.

Sprouts Parents
Parents of Preschool and PreK Kids!
The Amazing Miss Tanya is taking a break from teaching our Sprouts class this summer, so we will need parents to help out! We have some great games, activities and lessons planned. The kids are great to work with! Take a look at your schedule and see where you can volunteer. Check out the Spring Sign Up.

YOUTH MINISTRY


High School and Middle School Youth Groups
Join us Sunday morning at 10:00 for worship.
Youth Group will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. See you there!  This week we'll try our hands at putt-putt.
 
  • Middle School Mission Trip is July 17th-20th. It will be local. 
  • High School Mission Trip is July 24th-27th. It will be local.

Bells & Choir Rehearsals  Bells will begin rehearsals in August.

GROUPS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS


Pancake Brunch  The Fellowship and Involvement Team is sponsoring an All American Pancake Brunch to be held on Sunday, July 9th, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Please join them us food and fun for all, including the famous "Let's Make a Deal" game.  It will be a blast, so please put it on your calendars.  The menu consists of pancakes, sausage, fruit, juice and mimosas.
 
Annual Meeting   We had a very successful annual meeting on Sunday, May 21st .   You can click here to download a hard copy of the Annual Report.


Office Staff Changes   We are excited to announce that CUC member Lindsey Stevenson is our new Finance Manager (part-time, 20 hours per week).  Lindsey  is a CPA with an MBA from the University of Indianapolis. She has served as an accountant for the Department of the Interior, and the Department of Defense. We look forward to her bringing her accounting and financial skills to CUC. Lindsey is married to Brent, and they have two children, Jack and Sloane.  Please welcome Lindsey to our CUC Staff!!
 
Cowboy Sunday    Remember Lauren Michaels, who sang at Cowboy Sunday a few weeks ago?  Well, we still have one CD of her music for sale. Check at the Welcome Spot.  They're $10.00 each and well worth it. 
 
New Member Class  If you're interested in joining Columbine United Church, or if you would just like to learn about the church, sign up for the new member class on Sunday, September 24th at 11:30 p.m.  Lunch and childcare will be provided. Prayer Shawl. The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the first Tuesday of each month in the Parlor. If you like to knit, or if you would like to learn to knit, please feel free to join them at 7:00 p.m. This ministry has been providing comfort to those in need for many years.

Notary Public. Josie Hamlen, one of our office staff, is a Notary Public. If you need this service, call the church office.

Congratulations to Joe & Jennifer Schmidt who welcomed Haddie Jean, born 6/17/17 at 4:44 am. She weighs 5 pounds 13 ounces and is 16.75 inches long.
 
Congratulations to Mark Johnson and Melissa Taylor on their recent engagement!  We all think it's about time!
 
Congratulations to George and Bev Blake on their 66th wedding anniversary on June 15th. 
 
Welcome to Lindsey Stevenson as she joins the CUC office staff as our new finance manager.
 
A special thanks to all the CUC office staff for helping the wheels run smoothly here at CUC. Your ever-ready smiles and cheerful attitudes are so appreciated.
 
CONCERNS :
 
Prayers for Craig Knotwell who is back in the hospital with a-fib and a medication check.  
 
Prayers for Diana Drummond, Carla Keesecker's niece, who was accidentally kicked in the face during a dance audition.  She is recovering from surgery for a fractured, displaced nose, and she has a very black eye.  Please pray that her eye and nose will continue to heal without any complications. 
 
Please pray for the family of Betty Nagel who passed away Friday, June 16. The service was Thursday, June 22, at 1:00 pm, here at Columbine United Church. She is survived by her children Carrie, Lisa and Brad. Cards for the family may be sent to the church.
 
Continued prayers for Judy Simmons as she released from Littleton Adventist Hospital for her cancer. If you would like to provide a meal to the family, please check the website at http://mealtrain.com/2g41g8
 
Prayers for Georgia Chudd over the loss of her mother who passed away in South Dakota.
 
Prayers for Mike Freeman, a 42- year veteran and respected and beloved member of South Metro Fire Rescue. Mike was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor just weeks before he was set to retire. Please pray for Mike, his son Dane, daughter-in-law Amy, and all the South Metro Fire Rescue as they go through this. Mike is a good friend of Mark Johnson.
 
Please pray for Katie Gaertner as she deals with health concerns. 
 
Prayers of thanksgiving that Phyllis Baker's cancer has not grown in recent months. However, please continue to pray for peace and good days for Phyllis as she moves to Sunrise Assisted Living. Cards can be sent to Phyllis at Sunrise Assisted Living, 5975 So. Holly St., Littleton, CO 80121.
 
Prayers for Donna Force, Cheri Cleland's mother, as doctors determine her treatment plan for breast cancer.
 
Prayers for Judi Buehrer as her cancer surgery is now scheduled for July 5th to remove her remaining tumors. Extra prayers are needed that doctors can remove all the cancer during the surgery.
 
Prayers for Judith Wright as she continues to have breathing challenges, following a brief stay in the hospital.
 
Although the immediate crisis may be over, we ask that you keep the following people in your prayers: Vic Stabio, Bob and Lisa Call, Marilyn Johnson, Jason Cooke, Kay Huntley, Nina and Garrett Ray, Kirstin Adkins, Tom Moore, Jim Lillie, Ruth and Don Teason, Lu Samu, Jeff and Linda Veres, Roger Maxwell, Keri Mahe, Sandy Balzhiser, Paul and Sue Broyles, Terri Townsend's nephew, Barbara Livingston, and Peggy Olson.
 
There are other unnamed members and friends of CUC who have requested prayers as they deal with unemployment, financial challenges, significant concerns, addiction and anger management.
 
Please pray for our brothers and sisters in the military and those who serve our country around the world.
