Jewish Food Festival, Sunday, June 11, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

On Sunday, June 11 (from 11 am to 4 pm), the Federation will be staging our first ever Southern Connecticut Jewish Food Festival, to be held in our inaugural year at Temple Israel in Westport. This is shaping up to be an amazing event, including a first-rate keynote speaker (Jeffrey Yoskowitz, co-author of The Gefilte Manifesto), wonderful cooking demonstrations, intriguing breakout sessions, a diverse exhibitor hall, an exciting children's program, and some fantastic kosher food options - from brisket to falafel. The Jewish food festival model has also proven to be a great framework for Jewish engagement, and it is our hope that a successful annual food festival can benefit all of us by providing a connection point for the unaffiliated. More Information.
Wi-ACT's Annual Benefit Concert, Saturday, June 17, 5:00 pm

Wi-ACT's Annual Benefit Concert in support of its Stop Hunger Now 167,000-meal-packaging event will be held Saturday, June 17th at 5 p.m. at the WEPCO Church Complex, 36 New Canaan Road (just past the intersection of Belden Hill & Wolfpit Rds). Ticket prices are $15 adults/$10 children. Tickets are available only at the door.

Performances will be by students from our schools led by Middlebrook Instructional Leader Janet Nobles and under the student leadership of eighth grader Elizabeth Williams.

100% of the proceeds go to support our meal packaging work at 29 cents for the cost of each meal, $48,430 total.  This past year - the sixth year of doing these community-wide events - Wi-ACT passed the 750,000 meals point. Meals are served to poorest of the poor children everywhere from Haiti to sub-Saharan Africa in educational programs where they are nourished in mind as well as in body.  Our meals feed over 450 of children for  an entire year. The meal-packaging event this year will be on Saturday, October 21st.

So please come out to hear a great concert performed by our young people and to support this highly important meal-packaging work!
