Jane helps Brooklyn get the perfect manicure

Ms. Chris' Preschool class prepared for summer in their VIP beauty salon, complete with manicures, waxing, and hair styling.

Jasmine said she loves the cooling sensation of shaving cream on her legs when she spreads it with a popsicle stick.  Jane, a longtime volunteer at the Center, helped the girls paint their nails while Carl, the classroom assistant, showed the boys how to comb and style their hair.

Blind Children's Learning Center is proud to introduce the Karl F. Kramer Center for Early Intervention, in honor of Karl Kramer, a long-time supporter of the Center. Thanks to this $145,000 memorial grant from The Karl Kirchgessner Foundation, the Center was able to purchase a new modular building that will accommodate a new Kindergarten, First and Second grade combination class.

Many Special Thanks
Disney VoluntEARS, Adam Flower and Jennifer Santillan, at Destination-Independence 5K Walk

Blind Children's Learning Center is so grateful for Disney VoluntEARS who donate their time at the annual Destination-Independence 5K Walk. This year, Adam Flowers, a stage manager in Candy Production at the Disneyland Resort, was named the VoluntEAR of the Year. As part of his recognition, Adam chose the Center to receive a $2,500 charitable contribution from the Walt Disney Company.

"Centers like yours are near and dear to my heart, as my nephew is visually impaired," said Adam. "I have seen him struggle through his young life but one thing that has set him up to succeed is centers like yours and the programs they offer. Each child deserves a fair chance at a great life, and because of centers like yours, they will have that opportunity."

Thank you to the National Charity League (NCL) Orange/Villa Park for their generous grant of $2,325 towards Orientation & Mobility services and mobility canes.

NCL hosts an annual fashion show that raises funds for their approved philanthropies. Blind Children's Learning Center is honored to be chosen as one of their charities.
