This has been an amazing school year! Thank you so much for partnering with us in the education of your child. We respect the sacrifices you make to send your child(ren) to Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. It has been our honor to share the responsibility of creating a faith-filled, loving attitude in your child(ren).

We wish you a very happy, safe and enjoyable summer. Please take time as a family to talk, play, and pray together. We look forward to seeing you all in August!

MTC Iowa Assessment Scores

The Iowa Assessment is a nationally standardized achievement test. MTC students in grades 2-8 performed extremely well on the Iowa Assessment again this year. Our students consistently score higher than the national average, the Province of Florida and the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Percentile scores are used in the reporting of scores on the Iowa Assessment. For example, a percentile score of 75 is considered better than 75 percent of other scores from the normative sample. A percentile score of 50 is considered average. Any percentile score over 50 is considered above average and any percentile score under 50 is considered below average. Percentile scores are not percentage scores.

While test scores are an important measure of performance, they only tell part of the story. Each child is unique, and at MTC we strive to help unlock the distinct interest and talents of each child. We teach our children about the themes of Catholic Social Teaching and equip them with the ability to know how their knowledge can better the world.

Great job, Crusaders!

HSA Board Update

Wow!! What an amazing year it has been for our Home and School Association volunteers. Not only did they help organize fabulous events for our school community, they also raised over $120,000 that will go towards enhancing the education at MTC. In particular, advancement in the area of technology and 21st Century Learning. Advancement in this area would not be possible without the hard work of our HSA, event chairs, and parent volunteers. Thank you for your shared dedication to academic excellence at MTC!

The following people reached out to us last month to volunteer their time and talent for the 2017-2018 HSA Executive Board. It is with great pleasure and honor to announce our new HSA Executive Board volunteers:

A heart felt thank you goes out to 2016-2017 HSA Execuitive Board:

We truly appreciate the many long hours you gave to MTC school.

MTC Technology Plan

Developing 21st century skills are essential for today’s students to meet state standards, perform on assessments, and be college and career ready. Digital skills help to improve critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity in students. MTC is committed to academic excellence utilizing technology by providing access to digital tools in all classes. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of our parent volunteers, we are able to move forward with our 1:1 digital device plan at no additional cost to our parents.

2017-2018 Technology Plan:

  • 1:1 iPads for students in grade 8
  • Shared digital device access for all students

Each iPad and computer will contain:

  • Office 365: Word, Publisher, Power Point, One Note, Excel, Publisher, Outlook
  • Various online interactive textbooks
  • Accelerated Math
  • Scholastic Magazine
  • Encyclopedia Britannica
  • Additional religion, math, language arts, social studies, science, music, art and Spanish resources
  • A keyboard with a protective case (iPad)

We will be implementing our 1:1 digital device plan starting with 8th grade in 2017-18. We will be evaluating and refining for expansion to additional grade levels in the coming years.

MTC teachers will be gearing up for the start of the school year by attending various technology training sessions this summer. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to plan outstanding lessons for our students and embrace 21s century skills.
