The articles this week highlight growth in Southwestern Illinois from expansions, to new growth, to an announcement that the unemployment rate has the biggest three-month drop in 38 years.  Scott Air Force base is also featured being awarded one of the best places to be stationed.  This shows that Southwestern Illinois is a positive environment for growth.  Read on to learn about other exciting news in Southwestern Illinois.

Illinois Unemployment Rate Drops

Illinois' unemployment rate is down to 7.1 percent.  This is a decline from 7.5 percent a month ago, and from 8.4 percent three months ago, the biggest three-month drop since they started keeping track 38 years ago.
