Thoughts on Last Week's Confirmation Service ...
From Dina Gumins: "On Friday evening the congregation took part in the confirmation service of five very special young ladies. As a parent listening to their speeches, it was remarkable to hear about their unique Jewish journeys. To quote one confirmand, 'Judaism has given me something to believe in and allowed me to be a part of something bigger than myself.' For another student,'not only does being Jewish have an influence on my daily life, but I have observed that it affects how my family sees the world as well.' Yet another observes, 'being Jewish to me is about showing unconditional kindness, as it improves everyone's quality of life.'
"TBC created an inclusive, safe community for these girls to explore their Jewish identities. According to another student, 'many of us have grown up at this temple since kindergarten and even those who joined us later still feel grateful for all TBC has offered us.' The bond these girls have created will be with them forever, as reflected by another student, 'through my Jewish experience, I have met some of my best friends and some amazing people.'
"I hope all parents get to watch their children continue to grow and discover what Judaism means to them.
