Superintendent's Message

Dear RBHS Students, Families, Staff, and Community,

The end of the school year was highlighted by a beautiful commencement for the Class of 2017. The excitement was contagious, and smiling faces were everywhere!

Even though summer break has just begun, we are well on the road to the start of the next school year. I hope everyone has a happy, safe vacation and returns energized for the 2017-2018 school year.

Below are some items of interest.

Cordially,

Principal's Message

It is hard to believe that this school year has already ended! We have said goodbye to the 382 students that comprise the 109th graduating class of RB. This fall the Class of 2017 will be attending 84 different colleges and universities in 27 different states. Five students are due our profound appreciation for joining the military to serve our country. We wish them all the best of luck as they continue to grow and experience new educational opportunities.

We also say goodbye to three support staff members, Rosanne Marshall, Sharon Sedivy, and Mary Todhunter, who retired this school year. I would like to thank them for their dedication to RB.

As we look forward to next school year, please mark your calendars for our annual residency event, which will take place on July 12, 20, and 24 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Additional information about scheduling your appointment for one of these dates will be emailed home later this month and can be found on the RBHS website . Students entering grades 9 and 12 have additional health requirements to fulfill prior to the start of the school year. Incoming freshman students will need a current physical and updated immunization record. Senior students will need to show proof of receiving two doses of meningococcal conjugate vaccination (MCV) unless the first dose was administered after 16 years of age. In this case, only one dose after 16 years of age is required. For more information about both of these requirements, please visit the   RBHS Health Office website.

Have a safe and restful summer break!

Chef Jimmy Bannos, Jr. Shares His Expertise with Culinary
  Students
Culinary Students have been creating and executing recipes all year. Much to their surprise, their Culinary Arts teacher Patti Farlee invited the "James Beard Rising Star of the Year Award" recipient Chef Jimmy Bannos, Jr. to share his expertise as students prepared for their final project. In collaboration with RBTV students and RBTV "Talknado" host Anthony Landahl, Chef Bannos shared his culinary journey in the kitchen and in the television studio. A demonstration in the culinary classroom of a classic Italian dish, Aglio e Olio (Garlic and Oil Sauce) and pasta, started the morning. During the aromatic cooking lesson, Chef Bannos began to share childhood stories growing up at his father's restaurant "Heaven on Seven," what it was like to be a fourth generation restaurateur, college life experiences, and the impact working under Chef Mario Batali has had on his career.
