1. Show up at the Spring Street Parking Lot (Look for the Green Balloons & Cash Mob sign!) shortly before 11AM on  Saturday, June 24
2. At 11AM sharp the 'Secret Business' will be revealed to attendees
3. The Mob gathers to follow the secret map to the surprise a business with $20 in hand, 'Mobbing' them with cash! 
4. Walk out with a smile, knowing you support small business

The Ishpeming Area Historical Society will hold the annual "Historical Places and Interesting Spaces" (Historic tour) Fundraiser on Sunday, June 25 from  1:00PM- 5:00PM  
      

There is to be a peek inside the Anderson Building on Main & Pearl Streets.  There will be refreshments and homemade goodies at St. John's.  Advance tickets (each a $10 donation) will be available the week prior at the museum (located on the 3rd floor of the  Gossard  Building), Main Street Antique Mall, and Midtown Bakery & Café in Negaunee.  100% of the proceeds go to the Society, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit.

Get a behind-the-scenes look at the nation's only primary nickel mine!  Mine and mill tours are FREE to the public and available from June through October.

The Eagle Mine tour is primarily a driving surface tour of the mine site with a walking tour through the water treatment plant. The mine tour does not go underground. You will see where the ore is brought up from underground and where it is stored and loaded into the haul trucks. Other surface facilities include the storage area for development (or waste) rock, the back fill plant, truck repair shop and the water treatment plant. 

Visitors meet at the Information Center at 153 A West Washington Street in downtown Marquette, and bus transportation for the tour is provided. Downtown parking passes are provided upon request.

On the Humboldt Mill tour you will see what happens to the ore after it leaves the mine site. The mill tour is a walking tour, beginning at the administrative office. The tour follows the circuit of crushing, grinding and flotation processes, taking the ore from haul truck to rail car. 

Visitors should be prepared to spend about an hour walking on site, including up and down stairs and over metal grating. Transportation is not provided for the Humboldt Mill tour. 

Driving and parking directions are given at the time of registration.

Requirements and Rules
Consistent with Eagle Mine policies, and for your safety, please note the following rules.
These rules apply to tours at both the Humboldt Mill and Eagle Mine.
  • Must be 13 years or older to participate. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Must wear long pants. No capris or shorts- no exceptions.
  • Shoulders must be covered. T-shirts are acceptable. No tank tops.
  • Must wear closed toe walking shoes/hiking boots. No sandals, clogs, heels, or "Mary Janes". Shoes must have covered top and back.
  • Must remove large jewelry/watches
  • Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will be provided: hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility vest, ear plugs.
  • No alcohol, drugs, or firearms on site
  • No photos or video equipment on site
  • Mill-Participants must be able to climb several flights of stairs and steep inclines, walk on metal grating, and be able to tolerate strong odors.
  • Mine- downtown parking passes are available upon request
  • Eagle Mine is not responsible for any parking violations received during tour

Pioneer Days will take place June 30 through July 8. The week will end with the Parade (theme: "Our Town...Decades of Champions!") at  11:30AM beginning on Iron Street, and end with the fireworks over Teal Lake beginning at dusk.

Join the Ishpeming 4th of July Committee for their 6th Annual Golf Outing Fireworks Fundraiser!

The event will be held Friday, June 30 at the Wawonowin Country Club (3432 County Road 478, Champion).  The four-person scramble will begin with a 10AM shotgun start, with special forward tees for women and seniors, as well as many games and special challenges on certain holes!

The Ishpeming Blue Notes reunion party will be held on Sunday July 2 at the Ishpeming VFW Club (310 Bank St., Ishpeming) beginning at 7PM. 

All past and present members of the Blue Notes organization are invited to attend. The cost will be $10/person at the door with a cash bar. Lunch will be served.

FESTIVAL OF TREASURES

On Monday, July 3 from 10:00AM-5:00PM, Ishpeming's Main Street will be alive with Treasures!   Live music, food, sidewalk sales, vendors, artists and kids activities will be featured. 

Prime vendor space is available under a tent for $40.00, and uncovered spaces for $20.00. Less centrally located space is available by donation.  Unreserved space for rummage, etc., is available on Cleveland between 1st and 2nd Street.

PARADE: This year's parade is scheduled for Tuesday, July 4, 2017 and will begin at 10:30 AM.  All parade entries must be in place by 10:00 AM.  Parade starts at 10:30 AM SHARP.  The Parade form is  HERE.

COMMUNITY PICNIC:  Community picnic at Al Quaal and would like to invite you to fill out an application for a vendor booth.  The picnic will begin immediately after the parade. 

FIREWORKS:  The Fireworks Display will begin at Al Quaal Park at dusk.

Ishpeming Firecracker Fun Run

Join the Ishpeming Cross Country Team at Al Quaal Recreation Area on Tuesday, the Fourth of July for the Ishpeming Firecracker Fun Run!  It's a 5K run, 1 Mile walk along the trails at Al Quaal. Registration is 7AM to 8:30AM at the pavilion. The race starts at 8:45AM.

Entry Fees are as follows: 
($1 discount for Upper Peninsula Road Runners Club)

On Sunday, July 9 from 1-4PM, the Ishpeming Area Historical Society will host a driving Cemetery Tour of the Ishpeming Cemetery, located on Deer Lake Avenue. 

The tour will focus on Honoring Our WWI Veterans. Come and hear their stories: Local WWI Veterans, Gold Star List, an Army Nurse, and a Naval Ship Builder!

Admission is by donation. If there is inclement weather, the tour will be cancelled.

The Lake Superior Community Partnership is working in conjunction with the Northern Michigan University Center for Student Enrichment to put on the annual Fall Fest event.

This year's Fall Fest will take place Monday, August 28 from 11AM to 3PM on the NMU University Center Lawn.  Fall Fest gives businesses in the area an unparalleled opportunity to introduce their products and services to the University's community.  Participating businesses and organizations will have a 'booth' space with an (8) foot table, chairs, and the option for electricity.
