Over $7 Million Approved for Community Enhancements 

Rancho Cordova City Council Members recently approved  46 community projects in addition to ongoing City programs for Community Enhancement Fund grants for the 2017/2018 fiscal year, totaling $7.1 million. 

Each project enhances the Rancho Cordova community through art, public safety, youth programs, and economic development. 


Rancho Cordova Turns 14! 

It has been 14 years since the community voted to incorporate Rancho Cordova, making Rancho Cordova an official city on July 1st, 2003. Every July, we celebrate our cityhood and our vibrant community!



Fresh Produce Abounds in Rancho Cordova! 

The Goethe Loop Farmers' Market, stationed at the Sacramento Area Sewer District in Sacramento County, opened last month, making it the fourth farmers' market in the area specializing in local and seasonal fruits and vegetables. 
Introducing City Council Member, Garrett Gatewood  

Our newest addition to the City Council, Garrett Gatewood, sat on the other side of the dais for the first time on June 19th. Gatewood has been a resident of Rancho Cordova for 12 years, and he owns Business Computer Services of Sacramento. He is serving the remainder of the late Council Member Dan Skoglund's term through December 2018.


Public Works for You

Your City Public Works team is busy improving our City with these new projects:

2017 ADA Sidewalk Improvement Project
In June, the City completed sidewalk repairs at several locations in Rancho Cordova. The improvements increase pedestrian safety and enhance accessibility.  
 
2017 Street Rehabilitation Project
The 2017 Street Rehabilitation Project is underway in the Cordova Meadows neighborhood! The project is supported by the City's Community Enhancement Fund and includes new asphalt overlay, portions of sidewalk and ramp replacements, and minor stormwater upgrades. Workers are scheduled to pave streets with a new asphalt overlay from July 10th - August 1st, weather permitting.

Chase Drive Corridor Project Phase 1B: Soil Born Farms
The City has proposed a project to upgrade access to Soil Born Farms and Hagan Community Park, and promote urban agriculture farming in the community. A proposed  Mitigated Negative Declaration  is available for public review through July 30th. 
 
Folsom Boulevard Fence Replacement Project
A new masonry wall has been constructed along Folsom Boulevard to the east and west of Los Nogales Way. One of three artistic murals has been installed on the wall by artist Cathy Rowe. Drive by to see the vibrant Lincoln Flowers Mural! The second mural will be installed in July and a third will be installed this fall.

Leadership Class Graduation and Recruitment

Have you seen the new, one-of-a-kind bicycle racks installed in Rancho Cordova? Thanks to the great work by Leadership Rancho Cordova Class XI, six artistic, yet functional, bicycle racks are being installed in different locations within the City as part of their year-long leadership program. 

The Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce, which offers the leadership program, is now recruiting students for Class XII


Get Ready for Eppie's Great Race! 

Come out for a great day on July 15th when athletes run, ride, and paddle along the American River Parkway in the annual Eppie's Great Race! 

This annual event is a summertime tradition for the Sacramento region that not only benefits a great cause, but it's tons of fun. The City of Rancho Cordova is proud to sponsor the event, and City Hall staff will be there to compete and cheer teams on! 


Students Experience Civics at City Hall

High school students are experiencing "Summer at City Hall" through a 4-week program at Rancho Cordova City Hall, which was funded by the City's Community Enhancement Fund. The professional development program gives students hands-on experience and education regarding how local government works. 


Sunridge Plaza Raley's Open Now 

The Sunridge Plaza Raley's on Sunrise Boulevard and Douglas Road is open for business! 

Sunridge Plaza also features a Starbucks, Great Clips, Sunridge Nail Salon, Soho Sushi, Jimboy's Tacos, and more. An Arco gas station is currently being constructed as well.  Chase Bank and Evergreen Fine Nutrition and Beauty are coming soon.

Robert J. McGarvey Elementary School Unveiling 

Robert J. McGarvey Elementary School will open to its first students on July 13th. Part of the Elk Grove Unified School District, this school is named after Rancho Cordova Council Member Bob McGarvey. The school will serve students in the City's Sunridge, Anatolia and Kavala Ranch neighborhoods.
