War Heroes of Ohio              Wednesday, July 12                        $89

Today is all about our Veterans and their families.  Gather your friends and family to travel north to Columbus, OH with JOY.  Our destination is the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant located between the runways of the Port Columbus Airport.  This old country 1917 French Farmhouse is full of military memorabilia and aviation relics depicting the times of the WWI and WWII era.  You will have lunch surrounded by this rich history of service, sacrifice and bravery.  After lunch, we will have guest speaker Megan McCoy from the Ohio History Center.  You will learn why the fighter pilots of WWI & WWII were a critical force in winning the war, not only for aerial combat with enemy fighter pilots and as escorts for bombing missions, but for morale on the front lines and back home as well.  She will also talk about Eddie Rickenbacker, Don Gentile, and the other fighter pilots' contributions to the war effort and their influence on aviation.  Having just celebrated Independence Day, take this day to celebrate those who defend and have defended that freedom with honor and bravery.
 
 

The Bourbon Trail                  Monday, August 7                         $99

Journey along the Bourbon Trail with JOY!  We will depart in the morning and head south into Kentucky.  Our first stop will be at Buffalo Trace Distillery, named for its location near what once was a trail for huge herds of migrating buffalo.  You will tour the facility and have a tasting.  Be sure to taste the decadent Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream, perfect for a grown-up Root Beer Float!  Afterwards, enjoy a lunch at Cracker Barrel.  Then we are off for a tour and tasting at the Woodford Reserve Distillery, where you will learn how they are unique at all 5 sources of flavor.   After a fun day, we will board the Motor Coach for our journey home with a stop for dinner on your own along the way. This will be a full day so bring lots of energy, good cheer, and your taste buds!
 
 

Noah's ARK Encounter       Tuesday, August 15                          $99

Come along with JOY to view Kentucky's newest theme park.  The ARK Encounter is a historically themed attraction, which features a full-size Noah's Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old. In an entertaining, educational and immersive way, it presents a number of scriptural events centered on a full size, all wood ark, which is the largest timber framed structure in the U.S.  Created to be family oriented, historically authentic, and environmentally friendly, the Ark features three different levels:  Level I before the flood; Level II during the flood; Level III after the flood.  From the moment you turn the corner and the towering Ark comes into view, to the friendly animals in the zoo, to the jaw-dropping exhibits inside the Ark, you'll experience the pages of the Bible like never before!  Lunch will be included at the Park.
 

 
A Colorful History              Friday, August 18                             $99

Today you will have the pleasure of viewing one of the largest stained glass studios in Ohio, the BeauVerre Riordan Studio in Middletown.  You will not only see the beautiful stained glass   creations, but also learn about the process of creating these colorful works of art.  After a stop at the gift shop, you will depart for a short ride to Lebanon to have lunch at the oldest Inn in Ohio, The Golden Lamb.  Built in 1803, it still operates today as an Inn and Restaurant.  You will no doubt enjoy not only the food but the atmosphere and scenery at this historical gem.  Then head down the road to the Warren County History Center, where you will be able to tour the National Underground Railroad exhibit and view beautiful historical artifacts and displays depicting early Ohio history.
 
 
Derby Darlings & Champions     Wednesday, Sept 27               $109

Spend the afternoon with Champions!  Today we will be visiting "Old Friends" Thoroughbred Retirement Farm.  The farm houses more than 150 retired racing horses, including 1997 Derby & Preakness winner, Silver Charm (considered one of the most beautiful stallions in the world) and Riva Way, grandson of 1973 Triple Crown winner Secretariat.  After lunch at Cracker Barrel, depart for Taylor Made Farm to meet California Chrome (subject to his health/well-being), North America's all-time leading money winner at $14,752,650!  California Chrome (2014 Kentucky Derby & Preakness Winner) was just retired this year and is now living the life of leisure, spending his days nibbling grass, mating with mares (stud fee is a cool $40,000), and greeting his fans.  During your tour, you will also get to see the Stud House, meet the Mares, and tour the Birthing Area (keep an eye out for some fouls)!
Note: This will be a guided walking tour on grass with possible uneven ground.



Sophie's
 Secret!                  Thursday, Oct 12                               $94

Uncover secrets with JOY in Columbus!  Your first stop will be the "Herb Capital" of Ohio, in Gahanna.  At the Herb Farm, learn the secret to growing a perfect herb garden and easy ways to enhance everyday recipes & create your own culinary creations of herbal-infused vinegars, oils, syrups or tea.   Lunch will be on your own at the MCL Cafeteria.  After luncheon, travel a short distance to the Kelton House & Museum, a stop along the Underground Railroad.  Here you will meet Sophie and learn her secret...  Sophie Kelton, first lady of the house, welcomes her visitor's as if it was 1860 and will lead the group on a tour of her home.  She will only share her secret once she is assured that you are sympathetic to the cause.  On the tour you will learn about the house and Kelton family history, as well as what life was like in the late 19th Century.  The tour ends in the Carriage House, where afternoon tea awaits, including finger sandwiches and Strawberry Trifle with Sophie.  You will return home guarding the secrets you have learned today.



An Autumn Afternoon in Nashville, IN    Thursday, Oct. 26       $75

Christmas Past & Present         Wednesday, Dec 6                       $99

Come along with JOY on a Christmas journey through the past and present!   Depart this morning for Indianapolis, where our first stop will be the Indiana Historical Society.  Here you will tour the Festival of Trees, over 100 Christmas trees each decorated by a local group or business based on a specific theme that they have chosen.  The imagination and detail is exquisite!  Feel free to explore the rest of the exhibits too.  There are living history rooms and a Cole Porter room with live entertainment and seating (you can even make song requests!).  Lunch will be at famous Shapiro's Deli, a family owned kosher deli since 1905.  After lunch, we will travel to the home of the 23rd President (the only one from Indiana), Benjamin Harrison.  He was born and raised in the Tri-State area and loved Christmas.  In fact, he was the first President to put up a Christmas tree at the White House.  You will see the house decorated just as they did back in the late 1800s, many of the   decorations and furniture are original to the family.  Later this afternoon, you will have some time for Christmas shopping before heading home.
