Ph.D. student awarded  '25 Under 35' honor

Meredith McGuire, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Cell Biology, recently  received the "25 Under 35" award from her high school, Saint Joseph Academy in Cleveland, Ohio.  Meredith was recognized at a ceremony on June 17 for exemplifying  passion and dedication in her chosen career and in her community.

Typically, at the end of every class, medical students hold a memorial service to commemorate the contributions of the anatomical donors. But thanks to a group of students' desire to more permanently recognize and honor those who help them receive real-life experiences, a more special program was held this year. Read more.

'Fiscal Surgeon' to Retire 
Peterson has served Hopkins for 44 years
 
After more than 44 years of unparalleled service to Johns Hopkins, Ronald R. Peterson has announced plans to retire as president of Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine at the end of 2017. "Beyond any question, Ron has been instrumental to the success of this organization, and I have a profound appreciation for all of his contributions," said Paul B. Rothman, dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Johns Hopkins University President Ronald J. Daniels, said.  Read more.
