Youth in Arts
"Youth in Arts" - is an after school arts based program for refugees and newcomer youth ages 12-24. This program's objective is to establish community connections through planned weekly activities, promote cross-cultural integration, esta
blish positive peer relationships, enhance knowledge of Canadian history and strengthen cultural diversity. "Youth in Arts" offers different activities like visual arts, digital design and video production.
Youth in Arts has flourished and grown so quickly in the past three weeks. 
With 24 new registrants, the program  has helped young newcomer and refugee youth explore different multimedia and showcase their creativity every Tuesday and Thursday. Bike to School Project.

CultureLink has become a leader in the cycling community with the Bike Host Program and the Bike to School Project. With a Bicycle Friendly Business Award under our belt, it is also a leader as an employer by building safe bicycle storage within our office. With cycling becoming a popular mode of transportation in the community, on street parking has reached capacity and street security has been an issue with various thefts.
A family reunited: From the Philippines to Canada

My Name is Melona Villahermosa Banico. I'm the mother of Judelyn (a 26-year old daughter), Jade ( a 24-year old son) and Jeah Banico ( a 14-year old daughter). I'm also the grandmother to Clyde, the 10 year old son of my eldest daughter. I moved to Canada from the Philippines eight years ago and sponsored all three of my children and my grandson to come to Canada.

I was reunited with my family on January 26, 2016 and I thought that was the happiest moment of my life. My mission was accomplished, we were together again,  but the honeymoon only lasted for two weeks.
After that, we encountered so many challenges. 

Connect & Explore Youth Networking Event
 
We have heard it a million times before - when it comes to finding a job or deciding on a career path, networking is key!  But, whether you are young or old, networking can feel like quite the endeavor. Where do you start? How do you go about meeting and connecting with professionals willing to share their experience with you? What do you say?  What don't you say?  With that in mind, CultureLink's  Youth Online Employment Strategy (YOES) partnered with the Toronto Youth Equity Strategy (TYES) to host the first ever Connect & Explore Youth Networking event at City Hall this past April 13th.

Bike Month at CultureLink
 
Students across Toronto are gearing up for Bike Month, the annual city-wide celebration of cycling, with the support of CultureLink's Bike to School Project . 

This spring, our team of Cycling Educators is presenting bike safety and skills programs at
65 schools for thousands of students. We're building on the momentum of our Bike to School Leadership Camp held in March at Evergreen Brick Works, and looking forward to Bike to School Week , May 29-June 3. Students, teachers and families - make sure your school is registered. Let's get rolling!
