June is in full swing and our 15th FREE Annual Children's Faire has come and gone. It was wonderful to see more than a thousand community members join 4Cs on May 20th for a day of fun, entertainment, informational community partner booths, free books, activities for the little ones, giveaways, and more! As I greeted families with little ones in toe at the Welcome Table, memories flooded over me of taking my own two daughters to 4Cs first Children's Faire more than a decade and a half ago. Hannah and Liane were just toddlers when they experienced their first 4Cs Children's Faire. Eyes big and bright, in awe of Elmo, their goody bags, the shiny red fire engines, and all of the activities that the Faire had in store for them, my girls were just starting their educational journeys and this was our community ready to embrace them.

Fast-forward 15 years from that first Faire and my eldest daughter walked across her high school stage, graduating with diploma in hand prepared for her next chapter. Thank you for partnering with 4Cs in helping ensure our children are given the strongest possible start with quality early care and education. As I experienced at the Children's Faire, it truly takes a village to raise our youngest learners to be smart, caring, productive members of our wonderful community. Congratulations to all of the families celebrating their own graduates and promotions this year, thank you for being our partner in helping Alameda County children thrive.

Congratulations CCIP Graduates

55 Participated in Program

Pictured below are the 30 Family Child Care Providers and 4 staff members who attended the recent end-of-year celebration dinner for the Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP). These participants completed a year of training and support to enhance their family child care businesses. Some of them opened new businesses, others improved their existing business practices; all increased the quality of care they provide for children. We congratulate them for their hard work and dedication.

Now Enrolling New CCIP Participants

Beginning in July, 4Cs will start enrolling new participants for the CCIP project year 2017-18. If you live in Fremont, Union City, Hayward, or unincorporated areas of Alameda County, AND if you meet low income guidelines, we can help you start or build your family child care business. We provide: assistance in completing the licensing application process, free training on business practices and quality child care, tips on how to set up your home environment, and reimbursements for some start-up costs. Training, resources, and individualized coaching/consultation are available in English, Spanish, and Chinese. Project funding is provided by CA Department of Education, Alameda County, and the cities of Fremont, Union City and Hayward.
