India's $1.6 trillion stock market broke new ground last month, with the benchmark index hitting an all-time high as confidence builds that the government's reform agenda will strengthen growth and corporate earnings. India-focused equity funds have attracted net inflows of $6 billion this year, compared to $3.8 billion registered during the entire 2016 year.
Oracle's Cloud Platform is headed to India to work with India Stack, allowing developers to work with government, businesses and startups to utilize digital infrastructure to deliver secure, paperless and cashless service delivery. In line with the "Digital India" initiative, the move helps developers use Oracle Cloud to create and test next-gen cloud applications.
Oracle also offers Startup Cloud Accelerator programs in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai.
Pranay Varada, a 14-year-old Indian-American student from Texas, won the 2017 National Geographic Bee competition and its $50,000 prize. He won the competition when he correctly identified the Kunlun Mountains as the 1,200-mile range that separates the Taklimakan Desert from the Tibetan Plateau. Varada is the sixth Indian-American student to win the competition in as many years and, after finishing as runner-up last year, he was "absolutely sure" he could win the challenge.
