2017 Georgia Milestones Testing Calendar
Cell Phone Use on Georgia Standardized Assessments
Students are not permitted to
use
, or
bring
into the testing environment, any electronic device that could allow them to access, retain, or transmit information (e.g., cell phone, smartphone, PDA, electronic recording, camera, or playback device, etc.). Possession or improper use of such devices during testing may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the system's student code of conduct and/or test invalidation. Devices such as those mentioned above that are brought into the testing environment must not remain in the student's possession during testing.
Calculator Use
Students will be allowed to use a scientific or graphing calculator on the Georgia Milestones Algebra I and Geometry assessments. Students will also be able to use a scientific or basic calculator on the Georgia Milestones Physical Science and Economics assessments. Students should plan to bring their own calculator as there will be a limited supply of school-owned calculators available.

Flowering Plant Sale
The Mary Persons FFA will offer flowering plants for sale this
Friday May 12th
. These flowers will make great Mother's Day Gifts.
We are offering flowering plants for as low as $2. There will be larger flowers for sale for $3 and $5, and also hanging baskets for $8. The sale will run from
7 am until 4 pm
.

Report Card Distribution
Students who would like a paper copy of their 2016-17 report card mailed to their home address, should bring in a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the front office by May 26, 2017.
Report cards will be mailed on June 1st to students who bring an envelope.
For those not mailed home, report cards may be picked up in the MPHS main office on Monday, June 5 - Thursday, June 8 from 9:00-11:30 and 1:00-4:
00.

Students Make & Sample Civil War Food
After identifying the key events, issues, and individuals relating to the causes, course, and consequences of the Civil War, Mrs. Dyke's U.S. history class followed a recipe to make hardtack to simulate what food was like during the Civil War.

Students Create Blackout Poetry
Students in Ms. Metcalf's room completed their blackout poetry portion of their poetry projects last week. Students were instructed to find at least 12 words that made sense when read in order and to use their creativity to demonstrate a theme.

Attention Seniors
Seniors that have participated in MOWR
(including core college classes and 3rd year healthcare classes) during any year of high school will need to make sure that their college transcript, in addition to their high school transcript, is sent to the college that they will be attending. College admissions and registration will be placed on hold until the college receives both transcripts. Links to request college transcripts are listed below.

Try-outs for possible placement in next year's Musical Theater class will be held on Wednesday, May

3:10 p.m.
in the Chorus Room. Please prepare to sing a 1 minute excerpt from a song of your choice that highlights your vocal and acting strengths. You must provide an accompaniment sound file or CD.
A sign-up sheet is placed outside of Mr. Hernandez and Ms. Spires' doors. Audition to join the fun adventure of acting, singing and dancing!!
