Principal's Message

Murwood families,

Saturday is the big night for our annual Auction for Education at Boundary Oak Country Club.   Please know that even if you cannot attend the actual auction event this Saturday, you can still participate and support our school by clicking on the auction items to bid on some of the incredible offerings that our hard working team of Amy Mason and Jamie O'Reilly have collected for our lucky school.  We hope that you will take time to bid on classroom baskets, children's artwork, and a little something for yourselves.

As you know, these events which we all enjoy are volunteer driven, so if you have any time on Saturday, please click on this volunteer link to help us set up the day of the event.  It's a great way to get to know your community and Amy and Jamie would greatly appreciate your assistance.  Any amount of time is appreciated.

Next week, I will be sending our Community Survey to check in with your feedback about our school around the areas of safety, communication, and climate.  It is a short survey that will take minutes to complete.  The results will help our Murwood Site Council (Murwood Advisory Committee) focus on areas of improvement for the coming year.

As always, we appreciate your participation in the many events we create to build community.  Join the fun and come be a part of our fabulous PTA.  We are waiting to welcome you.

Thank you,
Carol Nenni
From the Office

The stream of tardy students each day has been creeping up again.  This not only disrupts your student's learning, but also the learning of everyone who arrives on time.  School starts promptly at 8:05 AM.  Please arrive between 7:50 and 8:05 AM to make sure your child is counted on time and is here to receive important instruction.

We respectfully ask that if your child is tardy, they check into the office for a pass and then walk to the classroom by themselves or assisted by a staff member.
From the PTA President

We had such a great PTA Meeting last night!  So much was accomplished, we even got to learn about so many of the AWESOME items that will be at the auction this weekend.  Amy Mason and Jamie O'Reilly have been working tirelessly to make this event a success.  If you can't make it, you can still have someone proxy bid on any item you would like....Also, you don't want your child to miss out on teacher treats or any of the great parties the ladies put together.

Mark your calendars for our March 20th PTA Meeting, Marie Morgan, Superintendent of Walnut Creek School District, will be attending and able to answer any questions you many have regarding the calendar or any other issue.

Have a Great Week!

READ ACROSS AMERICA

We have a fun filled shortened day planned for Friday, March 2nd. Wear your pajamas to school in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday and come meet local author Deborah Lee Rose. Ms. Rose was recently honored with The AAAS/Subaru SB&F Prize for Excellence in Science Books, The Eureka Children's Nonfiction Award and is a finalist for the Cooks Prize which honors the best science, technology, engineering and math picture book  for her book Beauty and the Beak.

Ms. Rose will be presenting Beauty and the Beak to our 2nd through 5th grades and Jimmy the Joey to TK through 1st  grade classes.  We will not be selling these books at Murwood, but students are welcome to purchase them on their own and bring them to school March 2nd to be signed by Ms. Rose.

THANK YOU!
To everyone who donated, collected RED envelopes, held signs, organized classroom challenges, or posted on social media - thank you! By supporting WCEF you make a difference. You allow WCEF to continue to provide critical funding for educational programs, technology and salaries that state budgets do not cover. Where the state falls short, you stepped up to help raise almost $100,000 during the Turn UP The Heat campaign for WCEF. Together we're stronger!
