Thank you to our
Women United members and friends who came to Bayside Bowl on June 6.
You brought an impressive collection of items for East Bayside moms and their children!
We packed 100 bags of essential items that will be distributed through Portland Adult Ed and the East End Child Development Center. These bags will serve to help support mothers and children in East Bayside on their path to success.
"Being a parent can be stressful for anyone, but caring for a newborn or baby when you lack basic resources can be particularly challenging and can lead to health risks for babies," said Nicole Witherbee, Chief Program Officer at The John T. Gorman Foundation and Co-Chair of Women United, "By providing some of the essentials that families need, our community can help give a stronger start in life for their babies."
Although Gail Hayes, Senior Consultant at Annie E. Casey Foundationand two-generation consultant, was unable to join us, we will reschedule for this summer. Stay tuned for more information.
Women United Steering Committee will meet in the coming weeks to outline our investment strategies and timeline. If you are interested in participating in this process, please contact Mara Moorhead at United Way of Greater Portland.
