Request for Updated Contact Information
In an effort to best prepare bus routes and stops for the upcoming school year we ask that all families review the address and contact information that they have provided to the district to confirm it is correct. Please login to the Parent Portal (click on the "Parent Portal" icon at republicschools.org OR the URL is https://sdm.sisk12.com/RB/Default.aspx?Action=Parent) with the email address you have provided to the district. If you do not remember your password, select the "forgot password" button and a new password will be emailed to you.

Once logged in, be sure the "Home" tab is selected and then click on the "Family Data" option. Review the data listed and should you have updated information to submit, click on the EDIT button on the left side of your screen.
From there you will be taken to a screen where you can update the necessary pieces and then at the top click on "Submit Changes for School to Update Their Records." The edits will then be sent to school officials to confirm.

The Transportation Department will be sending bus stop information to families the first week of August via mail and email. We ask that you take time to update/confirm your contact information by July 1 so appropriate adjustments can be made. Thank you for your help with this matter!
BOE Meeting Recap
The June Board of Education   meeting took place on Thursday, June 15. After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the agenda adopted, the consent agenda (  see details in BoardDocs) was approved. The MSBA report was also viewed and can be watched HERE.

At this month's meeting Summer SLAM was spotlighted. SLAM Principal, Erin Wayt along with Head Teacher, Leanne Gove presented highlights to the Board of Education and showed the video that is in the above article.

Mr. Brandon Weldy, PE teacher at RMS, was presented with the Missouri Volunteer Instructor of the Year award from the Missouri Conservation Department. Under his leadership over 1000 RMS students have obtained their hunter safety certification.

In addition, FFA students from RHS shared about the various course and extra-curricular offerings that are available to students. They presented on several upcoming projects as well including a land revitalization project at RHS they are taking on beginning later this summer. To enhance the usage and visual appeal of the acreage in front of RHS, these students have developed a crop planting and harvesting program that will take about 18 months to fully implement.

Mr. Chance Wistrom, Superintendent of Schools, provided his monthly report which included a recap of the 2016-17 school year, but primarily focused on district budget information. All administrative reports can be found on    BoardDocs

Only one discussion item, several board policies, was on the agenda. Action items included the approval of the revised FY17 budget, the FY 18 budget and salary schedules for the upcoming school year.

In addition, board policy JFCI was approved which implements random student drug testing for the 2017-18 school year. As previously communicated, this will impact students in grades 7-12 who participate in the covered activities, athletics and privileges listed in the policy FOUND HERE. As a reminder, the purpose of this policy is not to levy discipline, but rather to help prevent substance abuse among students, to encourage treatment for students with substance abuse problems, and to ensure that students have the opportunity to attend school and participate in activities in a fair, safe and healthy environment. To read more about the process in which the district followed to implementing this policy CLICK HERE. Information will be sent to applicable students in mid-July regarding the required consent form and process.

The next regular meeting will be July 20, 2017 with open session beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The final drawings and specifications have been vetted and reviewed by an internal committee. The project has been advertised with an anticipated bid opening of mid-July. The construction of the project is on schedule to begin in the fall of 2017. To follow the progress visit https://www.republicschools.org/constructionupdates

RepMO Ready Update
The district's technology expansion plan, RepMO Ready is making great strides as we plan for the 2017-18 school year. At the start of next school year 3753 devices will be in the hands of students within their classrooms, and 2153 of those devices will be going home with students.

Incoming 6th, 8th and 9-12th grade families, you received communication regarding the required parent orientation. Please be sure to review that information HERE. In addition to completing this training online you can complete it in person on the following dates:

Below is a summary of what to expect for next school year in regards to RepMO Ready! You can also ready more about the entire plan at republicschools.org/repmoready or by clicking on the infographic at the top left in this section.

Vocational-Technical Enhancement Grant Approval
We are very excited to be approved for the Vocational-Technical Enhancement Grant which provides additional funds for STEAM experiences and increased rigor in our classrooms to best prepare students for their future! This grant is funded by the Office of College and Career Readiness at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
Required Text Opt-In...If you haven't already!
PARENTS/GUARDIANS: To receive texts from us be sure you have opted in to do so! If you haven't opted in yet, the below directions might help!

If you are pretty confident your cell number is in our system first try manually texting "Y" to code 67587. If that goes through, you will receive a confirmation text letting you know you are signed up to receive future texts. If that works, you are good to go.

However, if that does not work please contact the building your child attends to double-check that your number is in our system correctly. If it's not, they will manually put it in the system and then you should receive the opt-in message the next day.

If your number is already in our system, the issue is most likely with your wireless carrier. In that case you will need to contact your wireless provider and let them know you are unable to receive SMS messages. They should be able to turn them on. Thank you!
Preschool Openings

We have openings in our Monday through Thursday afternoon class and our Monday through Friday half-day classes. All other classes are on a waiting list.
