Don't miss out on the chance to hear from our current grad students, professors and supervisors next week!

We've planned a week worth of events to help you find out about grad school and decide if Queen's is the right fit for you. Whether you're a third year student just exploring options, a fourth year student thinking about it, or you have already applied - we've got events just for you to find out more about your community-to-be. Explore our learning spaces, talk to our professors, hear from current students, and get a feel for how awesome Kingston is to live in as a graduate student.

Not only are we inviting you, we are also inviting students from other universities who are interested in graduate studies so please feel free to share this with your friends! We are offering a $50 travel reimbursement and discounted accommodations to students coming from out-of-town!
Reading Week: A Time to Reflect on Where You are in Your Courses

How is your semester going? It's a good time to think about this with the Drop Deadline just around the corner (March 2). Sometimes, it's just not the right time to be taking all of the courses you are taking (or sometimes it's all working out perfectly - and if that's you - your reflection is done for now and you can go back to your reading week activities). If you fall in the other category, down sweat it too much, dropping a course is not the end of the world, and it's not really that uncommon either. Sometimes it is the best option for your mental health and your grades in your other courses. If you are not sure what to do, start by asking these questions:
  1. Have you had any feedback from your instructor that is concerning? Have you made noticeable improvements since then?
  2. Have you attended at least 90% of your classes, tutorials, labs, e.g.?
  3. Do you take notes in class and from your readings regularly?
  4. Have you done the readings? Have you retained what you've read?
If you are considering dropping a course, you only have until March 2. If you are concerned about how to get back on track if you do drop a course you can take a spring or summer course to get back on track and you can talk to an Academic Advisor  to consider other ideas as well. After March 2, it will be a lot harder to make this choice so don't leave it until later to determine what is right for you.
