Scott Road Closure for Folsom Plan Area Improvements  
Scott Road between the eastbound Highway 50 off-ramp and White Rock Road is closed for infrastructure improvements in the Folsom Plan Area. Placerville Road from Highway 50 to White Rock Road is now open. Placerville Road, as well as Prairie City Road and Latrobe Road, are available as alternate routes.Traffic safety and detour signs have been posted.

Orangevale Avenue Bridge Now Open  
A century-old bridge that connects Folsom and Orangevale has officially reopened to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians after a year-long rehabili­tation and historical preservation project. The Orangevale Avenue Bridge is located on Orangevale Avenue between Placer Mine Road and American River Canyon Road. Approximately 1,000 vehicles cross the bridge daily. The construction improved the lifespan of the bridge, and all structural elements were replaced to preserve the bridge's historical value. A ribbon cutting last Saturday marked the grand opening.

Summer Concert in the Park
The free summer concert series at City Lions Park continues Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. featuring the band FBI playing classic Motown hits, plus a dash of old-school and contemporary R&B tunes. The free concerts are presented by Folsom Parks & Recreation with the generous sponsorship of Folsom Rotary Clubs, Easton Development Company LLC, The Goddard School, Rubio's, and Take Part in the Arts. Bring a picnic or purchase food and beverages on site from the Folsom Rotary Clubs. The concerts continue weekly through July 28. Find the complete concert line-up on the City of Folsom website.

New Second Saturday Events
The Folsom Art Center and Folsom Senior Center kick off their new Second Saturday events from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 10. Both facilities are located in the same building at 48 Natoma Street. A variety of art workshops will be offered each month, plus open studio times for current Art Center students and extended hours for the Gallery at 48 Natoma. The featured workshop on June 10 is Paper Marbling and Painted Paper for ages 18+. Find more information and registration details on the City of Folsom website. The Folsom Senior Center will also be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Second Saturday of each month and will offer special activities for ages 55+. Seniors are invited to take part in free Mah Jongg lessons from 10 a.m. to noon on June 10.The Folsom Art Center, Senior Center and Gallery at 48 Natoma are also celebrating their 10th anniversary on June 10. Stop in and enjoy light refreshments, tour the facility, and stroll through the beautiful "Story Time" exhibit in the gallery.

Tips for a Water-Wise Summer
Now is the perfect time to give your irrigation system a tune-up. To get started, follow these four simple steps:
  • Inspect. Check your irrigation system for clogged, broken, or missing sprinkler heads. Contact Folsom's Water Conservation Team and schedule a free Water-Wise House Call. Make an appointment at [email protected] or 916-355-7252.
  • Connect. Examine points where the sprinkler heads connect to pipes and hoses.
  • Direct. Adjust sprinklers to apply water only to the landscape.
  • Select. Update your system's schedule with the seasons, or select a WaterSense labeled controller.

2017 National Night Out Registration Begins
The Folsom Police Department will team up again with the community on Tuesday, August 1 for National Night Out, a nationwide program that promotes involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. If your neighborhood is involved in Folsom Police Neighborhood Watch and is planning a National Night Out celebration, complete an application prior to July 21. Learn more.

Folsom Police Host 'Coffee with a Cop' Wednesday, June 14
Grab a cup of coffee and learn more about the Folsom Police Department at "Coffee with a Cop" on Wednesday, June 14 at 6 p.m. Join Police Chief Cynthia Renaud, Sergeant Eric Baade and Dispatcher Jessica Barbour for a casual meet-and-greet at Coffee Republic, located at 6610 Folsom Auburn Road. Learn what you can expect when you call 9-1-1 and hear a behind-the-scenes account of how the Folsom Police Department dispatchers handle emergency calls. Learn more.

All-in-One Transit 'Connect Card' Now Available in Folsom  
Are you ready for a simpler way to ride transit? The Connect Card is the Sacramento region's new way to pay transit fares for both bus and light rail. The reloadable smart card has an embedded computer chip that can store cash value, daily or monthly passes and discount fare. Now you only need one card to ride all nine transit systems in the Sacramento region. Participating agencies include Folsom Stage Line, Sacramento Regional Transit, Elk Grove e-tran, El Dorado Transit, Placer County Transit, Roseville Transit, South County Transit Link, Yolobus, and Yuba-Sutter Transit. In Folsom, transit riders can get a Connect Card at the City Hall Customer Service Counter at 50 Natoma Street between 8 a.m, and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Ride in Style with Johnny Cash Trail Gear 
Add a stylish new addition to your cycling wardrobe and show your support for this world-class project every time you ride! Men's and women's jerseys and shorts are available, and proceeds will help fund the first two public art installments on Folsom's Johnny Cash Trail. Stop by the Folsom Senior and Art Center at 48 Natoma Street, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to purchase your set.

Unique Summer Day Camps
Folsom Parks & Recreation's summer camps for kids and teens offer activities that range from arts to zoo. Little campers ages 4 to 7 years can take part in the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary's ABC Zoo Camp from 10 a.m. to noon June 19 through 21. Campers will explore the wonderful world of animals through crafts, songs, activities, and hands-on interaction with live animals. Find details and registration on the City of Folsom website.New to the camp lineup is The Academy of Indian Heritage for ages 6 to 12 years. Camp offers daylong adventure from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. the week of June 19 through 23. Campers will engage in yoga, sports, arts and crafts, music and folk dances from India, and other activities.
