Conversations with Kids safe

The Internet is everywhere, but how do you protect your child from some of the biggest online threats? TulsaKids can help. Log on every Tuesday in June to TulsaKids.com to view a new informational video and learn how to keep kids safe. This week, the video offers tips to parents on how to approach tough conversations with children about internet safety.

The four-part video series features Miss America 2007, Lauren Nelson, and national parenting and safety expert, Alison Jacobson, who will address vital topics every parent should know about before allowing children on the Internet.

Tulsa Shimmy Mob members with CAN staff

On May 13, Tulsa Shimmy Mob performed around downtown Tulsa as part of International Shimmy Mob Day. The performers accepted donations to raise money for CAN while raising awareness of CAN as well.

Jennifer Powell and Ana Bryan with the Tulsa Shimmy Mob visited the CAC on June 14 to demonstrate their performance for the staff and present their donation.

Thank You, Tulsa Shimmy Mob, for thinking of all of us at the CAC!

Visitors Tour CAC  cpc

On June 15, Rose Turner and David Glanz conducted a tour of the Children's Advocacy Center to 25 individuals from Leadership Tulsa participating in the "Journey to Safety Tour" (coordinated by the Child Protection Coalition).

The tour began at the CAC and participants learned about the Multidisciplinary Team and the Child Abuse Network. They then departed on a bus to visit the courthouse, DVIS, Youth Services of Tulsa and the Parent Child Center of Tulsa. The tour is a "behind-the-scenes" experience of the child protection system as seen through the eyes of an abused or neglected child.
