Pace University SBDC Newsletter - June 2017
Pace SBDC Partner:
Turner Construction Company

The Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has again partnered with   Turner Construction Company  to offer the MWBE & Small Business Contractor Training Program. The program's focus is on building the capacity of minority and women-owned business enterprises ( MWBEs) and other small businesses in construction or related fields. Further, the program helps MWBEs develop strategies for landing new contract opportunities. This free workshop series kicked off on May 9, with meetings held every Tuesday and Thursday night for a total of seven weeks, and it includes topics such as insurance and bonding, responding to an RFP, estimating, bidding, and procurement.

Sessions are led by Turner employees who are experts in their respective fields; they serve to strengthen the caliber of the nearly 50 program participants. Additionally, the Pace SBDC arranged for presentations by a number of lenders and the US Small Business Administration (SBA) regarding access to capital. As a complement to the workshop sessions, the Pace SBDC is also providing 1:1 counseling sessions to a number of program participants on securing working capital, developing capability statements, identifying relevant procurement opportunities, and building a website, among providing other services.
