OML Welcomes New Executive Director, Michael Fina
The Board of Directors are proud to announce Michael Fina as the  new  OML Executive Director.  The OML staff is excited to be moving forward with Director Fina's vision and leadership.
Collinsville City Manager, Pamela Polk, Appointed to OML Board
The League and Board of Directors are happy to announce that Collinsville City Manager Pamela Polk has been appointed to the Board of Directors to represent District 6.

Polk has made a career of servicing cities and towns and for the last twelve years has served the City of Collinsville as it's city manager. Polk is currently the President for City Management Association of Oklahoma (CMAO) and is the past President for the Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma (MESO). Polk also serves as secretary to the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group (OMAG) Board of Directors. She earned her Master's degree in administrative studies from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. After being appointed to the board, Polk said, "As a dedicated public servant to not only Collinsville, but to all Oklahoma cities and towns and the great state of Oklahoma, I truly believe that my education, experiences, and life applications will assist me to represent District 6 and I am looking forward to the opportunity." 

OML and the Board of Directors welcome Ms. Polk and look forward to working together to serve Oklahoma cities and towns. 
OML Board Districts 2 And 11 Call For Nominations: Deadline July 21st
The Board seats representing Districts 2 and 11 on the Oklahoma Municipal League Board of Directors is up for election this year and will be voted on at the 2017 OML annual business meeting held during the OML annual conference in Tulsa, Thursday morning September 14, 2017. The Honorable Jason Nichols, Mayor for the City of Tahlequah, the District 2 representative and the District 11 representative, the Honorable Richard Chapman, Vice-Mayor of the Town of Gage have both expressed a desire to continue serving their districts if reappointed.
 
If you are interested in being considered for one of these positions, please submit your letter of interest, resume, and an attested resolution to the OML offices at 201 N.E. 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73105, Attention: Nancee Morris, fax to 405-528-7560 or email to nancee@oml.org. Our Final Spring Classes - Hurry Before Space Runs Out! - New Officials Institute (NOI)
Throughout the year OML provides an intensive educational program specifically tailored for newly elected and appointed officials as well as experienced officials who want to keep up-to-date on municipal issues. An officer is defined in 11 O.S. Section 1-102. State law requires each person elected for the first time to a position of a municipality on or after January 1, 2005, OR appointed for the first time on or after July 1, 2006, to attend an institute for municipal officials. The statute is codified at Title 11 O.S., Section 8-114.
 
The NOI teaches the statutorily required topics such as Municipal Budget Requirements, the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act, the Oklahoma Open Records Act, Ethics, Procedures for Conducting Meetings, Conflict of Interest, and Purchasing Procedures.

The next New Officials Institutes (NOI) is June 8th in Oklahoma City at the Rockwell Francis Tuttle and June 15th in Tulsa at the Tulsa Tech Lemley Campus. If you can't make these, there will be other opportunities later in the year and early next year to receive your required training in 2017-2018. Registration is currently open for both June classes.

Sign Up to be a Member of the Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Program!
This program is for clerks, treasurers, finance officers, and anyone that performs the duties for those offices. When you become a member of MC&T, your annual dues include a training manual in digital or paper format, a free training class, and annual legislative updates to the training manual. Turn in Your Nominations for the OML Awards Ceremony at the Annual Conference by July 14
Nominations are now being accepted for the MCO Mayor of the Year awards, the Innovations award, and the Don Rider award. Please submit your entries by Friday, July 14, 2017. The awards will be presented at the OML annual conference being held in Tulsa, September 12-14.

Mayors Council Of Oklahoma Summer Conference July 20-22
The Mayors Council of Oklahoma (MCO) will host the Mayors' Summer Conference in Idabel July 20, 21, and 22, 2017. The annual event provides mayors, vice-mayors and their families an opportunity to experience the best the hosting city has to offer while having the opportunity to network with fellow officials and participate in a quality educational workshop. Idabel Mayor Tina Foshee-Thomas will organize the conference and has tremendous plans for those in attendance.  Thursday morning is reserved for the MCO and OML Board of Directors' meeting followed by a golf scramble. On Friday, participants will take in one of the wonderful tours that the City of Idabel has to offer. Rotating roundtable sessions with hot topics to stimulate the discussion are planned. Join us in Idabel for three days with other Mayor's from around our great state.
